I understand not having Bravely Default in the top 25, but nowhere in the top 100 is crazy. Without it, a number of these games would have never even existed.

It's a pity that the "Trails" series has moved away from isometric view. The game had charm, its own style, the interface didn't seem overloaded, the world and locations didn't look empty. Now the series is in 3In the anime style, the locations look completely empty, the gameplay could have been more dynamic, but it became more overloaded.
@makoto_lys2 ай бұрын
"the locations look completely empty" Any examples? I do not see them even in Kuro no kiseki 2. Only one thng to complain from my side is they can make the story effectively shorter and connect better like in trails of azure/zero/sky. Somehow they added something not so meaningful or waste too much time on a tiny event.
@endrgar2 ай бұрын
@@makoto_lys And how do you present an example in the comments? Literally traveling around the world, the locations in the new games of the series are simply lifeless, there are 1-2 trees and bushes and 1-2 mobs, there is no sense Locations with settlements: NPCs just stand stupidly here or there, there is no artistic design, for example, there is no life in the city, which creates emptiness.And the caves are just incredibly depressing, straight up without design in diversity, no visual diversity, no diversity in level design. Although there was a life simulation, but it is not there.
@rannel76442 ай бұрын
@@endrgar I get what you mean and do agree on older trails entries having worlds that feel much more lived in and charming but there's not much that can be done about it Now if only Falcom had the budget to keep up with other modern game studios which can deliver on creating 3D worlds full of life
@endrgar2 ай бұрын
@@rannel7644 But JRPG and larger companies suffer from similar things, but it's good that they've been trying to fill their game worlds with some life lately. Although there's still the classic problem when you equip loot, it doesn't but it doesn't show up on the characters. You don't necessarily have to spend your budget on realistic graphics and incredible technology. It can be done JRPG in the classic form and style of pixel art. For some reason, indie developers succeed in this, they make games in pixel art. For example, chained echoes. But I agree that sometimes indie developers just don't have enough budget for the implementation of all ideas.
@andr0zzsenpai2 ай бұрын
Wdym, if the Trails games with isometric view also had locations that look empty and lifeless, the gameplay was also stiff and slow. The dungeon design was horrendous (especially Sky FC and SC). Trails did nothing but improve over time.

Chrono Trigger is disqualified from number 1 because it has a silent protagonist. I'd rather play Phantasy Star 4

@frankfernandez86372 ай бұрын
@@diegoarmando5489 sorry man but that's a stupid comment. I love Phantasy Star IV as to put it into an ''All Time Top 10'', but Chrono Trigger is simply better in almost everything.

I personally feel like Ys 8 is much better than nier: automata. I kknow they dont' have much in common but just for a purely action-based 'jrpg', that's why I compare them. Ys8 has much better enemy variety, playable character variety, a more interesting world to explore, better music IMO if you don't automatically prefer games that just slap nonsensible vocals in it (though that carnival 'IM SO BEAUTIFUL' boss BGM is peak), and honestly, you spend too much time playing as 9s whose gameplay is...ugh...

calling yakzua 0 a JRPG is the same as calling Super Mario 64 a JRPG. Yakuza is an action adventure game; one of the best games ever? yes, a JRPG, absolutely not. Yakuza 7 and infinite wealth are the only two games in the franchise i'd call a jrpg

Yakuza 0 has a lot of JRPG components to it, it's fine for me
@sidneyday89272 ай бұрын
Yakuza 0 is a Japanese game and it has so many rog elements in that it’s nothing wrong with calling it a jrpg. People have gotten “roleplay” mixed up way to much with just a particular part of a video game. Just because it’s turn based etc doesn’t mean it’s a jrpg. Technically most action adventure games is still just you role playing as character. Especially with something like Yakuza where you are eating, leveling, living full in that world. That is the definition of “role playing”. Something like God of War is more of a traditional action adventure game. Where you are basically just fighting, exploring a bit, adding skills(role play elements). I always felt with games like Red Dead Redemption 2 with that level of depth, living components and immersion at that point is really just a rpg.
@frankfernandez86372 ай бұрын
@@Lokhlass1 as Zelda has too and its not an RPG
@frankfernandez86372 ай бұрын
@@sidneyday8927 I got your point and it's probably true. But Japanese RPGs have elements too well marked as the battle sistems, the leveling sistems, the pacing, etc, and Yakusa 0 I think dosen't have those. The Last 2 Entries of Like a Dragon are Turn Based RPGs and still feel a little diferent from the rest of the genre
