Deliberate practice takes effort, concentration, and a tolerance for repetitive. Flow is loads of fun. But which makes you better at learning, and can you combine both? Here's my take.

Something about drinking a little bit of coffee before practicing piano really snaps me into flow state.

Practice scales and finger exercises to develop finger strength, dexterity, and control. At least one hour on scales with another hour or two on pieces. Get yourself a Schirmer scales and finger exercises book, otherwise it will just be a constant struggle.

@@JoelSnape1 You do know there are total of 48 scales in piano right? 12 major and 36 minor. Obviously, you slowly buildup to it. The idea is they become second nature to you and you can tell which scales by ear.

@@joyjoy534 Yeah but I only get an hour a day to practice! I usually practice a major and a related minor a day and then change once a week, I also find that my concentration really flags if I push scales too hard
