Things i’ve learned about shopping at Costco… 1. never go on a weekend, it’s a madhouse.. 2. Everyone is rude, no one feels they need to move out of the way and for some strange reason they feel like it’s OK to walk in front of a moving cart… (don’t they know I will run right into them?) 3. It’s not always cheaper…. many times it is, but not always.
@hispid17 ай бұрын
Agreed - it is cheaper at some thimgs but more expensive elsewhere, so in the end costco = meh.

I love my soda stream. I live alone and I find I need to replace the gas cylinder twice yearly. With people in the house, yours may not last as long. The supermarkets here in Australia give a significant discount if we bring back the used cylinder to be re-cycled. I love Costco videos! Thank you for this one!

I own a SodaStream (I’m actually on my second one) and I appreciate it, but I don’t love it. I’m not a fan of the sodastream bottles, specifically the opening. The plastic is extra thick, so they’re not the most comfortable to drink from. I usually make the drink in the bottle and then pour it into my preferred water bottle. (First world problems, I know). The second downside (and this might just be a local issue) is that I had to buy a countertop water filter. Our tap water has a metallic taste and chlorine smell to it, so it doesn’t make for good drinking water. But, those hurdles aside, I do appreciate the Soda Stream. It does save waste. I would recommend buying one, especially if it costs only £65. Our soda stream was $120, which is almost 50% more than the one you found.

Hi Joel, I love my Soda Stream. I drink about 2 liters of sparkling water a day, so I go thru 2 canisters of O2 about every 3 months. It’s mostly the juices (lemon and raspberry) I drink, so 0 cal, but I sometimes treat myself to the cherry cola. They do carry all the Pepsi products, so you’re in luck. So you may find it cheaper to buy Pepsi Max that way. Also, the O2 canisters are recycled thru them. You order the canisters, they send them to you and you send the old ones back in the same box. Shipping is prepaid and you canisters you buy are discounted. You can always buy more bottle for different flavors. The kids may like having their own bottle/flavor. The big bottles are 28 oz (828 ml) and the smaller bottles are 16 oz (483 ml). Enjoy

Hey Joel. Definitely gets Soda Stream I love mine. The basic model is all you need. Keep an eye out in Aldi. Here in Australia they sometimes have them and extra bottles in “The Middle Aisles” 😊. And I agree with you that Costco is seldom as cheap as people think. And people can’t drive their trolleys without crashing into you. At least here in Oz. So well done you in keeping your cool. Those prices look horrendous though. I’m hoping to be in London May/June next year. Will I have those sort of prices to look forward to😱?
@mikewolfe58293 ай бұрын
Don't get a SodaStream. The flavo(u)rs really get diluted in the process of carbonation. And unless you're going to do it daily, it just is easier to do cans/bottles and recycle after.
@stephaniesosna82137 ай бұрын
What I've learned about comparing prices at Costco for things like kitchenware or vacuums etc is that you need to look carefully at the "extras" added to the Costco item. For the soda stream, things like extra storage bottles, flavorings, newer model of machine...these things usually make the Costco version more of a deal compared to Amazon. Just my experience talking here 😊

And “yes” it is a combo of French and Japanese “kitsune”. Kitsune translates to “fox” in English. BUT, Kitsune are also tricksters in Japanes folklore. The folklore version have 9 tails and can live for hundreds of years.

I have a soda stream. Realistically, I use it to make fizzy water only. The downside of the SS water is that it loses its fizz faster than the ready-made stuff. But I usually drink the whole bottle at once anyway. I have added a bit of Mio (it's kind of like diet squash) to it, but it tends to de-fizz faster.

In my state of Victoria in Australia we have a 10cent deposit on plastic bottles and cans and you get the deposit back if you take them to the recycling units that are set up in every town and suburb. You feed them into the machine which reads the barcode and refunds the amount of money owing to you. You won't find any plastic drink bottles littering the ground. People, especially kids, will pick them up to get the money.

Thanks for the video tour Joel. You have to watch and compare prices. Costco is not always cheaper when you can get the items on sale elsewhere. However, I also have a membership. I get petrol there, and their rotisserie chicken for $5 would feed me for 4 days. I browse thru, but the quantities are more than a single guy can use. On electronics, Costco extends the warranty to 2 years on televisions, projectors, computers and major appliances. I was kind of surprised in the UK store that the large price did not include VAT and the price with VAT was hidden in small print on the bottom. That seemed sort of misleading where in the US we are accustom that sales tax is never included in the price.

To be fair, SOME com[panies have a policy where you cannot sell their products cheaper than (fill in the price here, USUALLY the price they sell at, but I can see them figuring NO ONE would sell it cheaper than that anyway, so they just put in a number that's close enough to what they are likely to sell it for). Maybe not the case here - but could be... I know it happens, because I've been on the buying side for a retailer before (not Costco, sadly, but a retailer). Just a thought.
