What do you do if you lost your gifts? I used to be so good, so intuitive, I developed hypothyroidism and started the medicine for it and it was like the light turned off. I lost my Thoth deck and I have been blind since. Here I am three decades later and I'm just relearning how to connect to the universe again. I've just been gifted a new Thoth deck and it's already speaking to me like my original did. But I'm struggling with its messages. Lol. This is how desperate I am. Haven’t been using my Thoth much these days, but it is my forever soul deck. When I started learning tarot, I had a dream with Thoth (the deity), he was showing me the cards and telling me how “colorful” the images were. Of course, I ran off and bought the deck that same week and went right into the rabbit hole lol.

You're 100% right about this card and it's tendency to 'accelerate' karma. I guess it's kinda because once you're able to observe things at a causal level you actively input stimuli that either changes or accelerates karma.

I'm so happy I came across your channel. You are simply a beautiful soul and I love how you described Crowley. He has been described as the most evil man in the world. Depending on your definition of evil and how much you believe about the things said about him but to deny his brilliance is sheer ignorance. Love him or hate him, the man had a huge impact on occultism, witchcraft practices in general and he traveled in very interesting circles. I currently work with Tarot of the Holy Light but have read Crowley for years and wanted to explore this deck. I picked it up and am doing that now. Apparently, I was meant to find your channel. I believe the Thoth deck chose me. My original deck (my first) was gifted to me by my friend because every time he tried to read it, it gave him terrible spreads. The first time I picked it up, it gave me such a positive spread he gave it to me on the spot. That was my rabbit hole, lol. Then I discovered I shared Crowley's birthday and it was over with, lol. I got my books and did extensive readings. I realize now that I did read more intuitively than from an educated perspective. I plan on now reading more and trying to go beyond just the intuitive, I hope my new thoth deck will guide me as well as my first.

I use this deck to clarify when I use the Egyptian Tarot or vice versa. Love this deck, see something new every time I read with it but Chile you lost me calling out witches on some “Crowley wrote most of your rituals”. Crowleys philosophies are barely a century old. Real witches/Strega those of us with long traceable lines made our brand of occultism way before his times. Old magic is feminine of Gaia…Crowley was a genius but you’re giving him to much credit. Also in re: karma and the power of the deck…the channeler and their ability to channel doesn’t change from deck to deck…true channelers can tap into source with any deck. Decks are tools…kind of like a car…no good unless there’s a learned driver. I love this deck, it’s very nuanced and intricate and definitely gives me unique messages. As a channeler, I am a conduit, I receive and deliver and karmic energy is not stored or gained only high priestess knowledge and pieces of the Akashic record are stored. Same with root workers…they don’t receive karmic retribution for doing their spiritual work. Much like Crowley, root workers (who predate Crowley by almost a century) don’t shy away from dark magic.

The other day I realized I’ll be 33 and have been studying tarot for 20 years officially. I realize I have like no tarot friends to talk to so I turn to YT. I see a video on the Thoth deck and I get my popcorn ready. You really hit me at the 8 minute or whatever mark saying this deck accelerates karma. Naturally I instinctively agree but then it hit me like actually. Fuck yes it does. My Crowley Thoth has always been nice to me but goddamn I’d be lying if I didn’t acknowledge deep ass synchronicities when I think back to times I’ve been hanging out on the daily with that boy. I got this deck last year and decided to learn more about it now that I have the courage and time. Not going to lie, this deck was really intimidating at first until I started to learn about the history behind the cards. I’m surprised at how much astrology and numerology is used (and I’m pretty knowledgeable in both) so it makes learning this deck much easier. I didn’t know about Kabbalah until I started with this deck and it’s pretty eye opening. I’m glad this deck chose me because I love to study and learn outside of the box.

This deck actually found me. It was the start of retrograde, i took my washing to the washer room, the deck was sitting there by itself along with the reader manual- which is so old the pages are barely attached. Really freaky actually because it was dark and during a storm. Anyway i believe it was placed there by someone to be taken, so i took it because i was planning on buying a tarot deck prior and the night before this incident happened i had dreamt i had my own deck. Recently I purchased the DuQuette book you suggested and I just finished it today. I plan to dive into Crowley's Book of Thoth next. I'm excited to see your instructional video on using this deck! That was incredibly informative on this specific deck that I have been lead to. I’ve had a shift in consciousness towards the perception of the Tarot, thinking it was a crutch or simply a tool of divination which I felt I could do it myself without tools. However I now see it as an extension of the self, seeing the framework underlying the facade, way to know the self better, to help others, and to be truly self empowered because when we are aware of what needs to be done in our lives we can take the right action to do. Thank you for explaining the difference of this deck and subsequent accuracy and complexities involved, I am a beginner but have a newfound interest and I look forward to studying thank you for the book recommendations. This is the difference between using an iPhone and a 1990s Nokia brick telephone in my opinion! My best advice is ask the deck to teach you in addition to reading the books. This was such a lovely video, thank you! This comment is going to be a bit long, but I have to get this out since I loved your video so much. The thoth tarot had been on my wishlist for ages and it was only today that I was drawn to check its price again (I'm a recent graduate and the price constantly fluctuates so I wanted to buy it when I could afford it best). For the first time in months, the price was low enough for me to make the jump. Your point about how the deck allows you to connect with your higher self made me cry immediately and it was then that I remembered the vision that came to me during my meditation on the akashic records. I met my higher self in my vision and they looked as if they were born out of the imagery of the Thoth deck. I didn't recognise them at first but as they came closer I could hear their energy telling me that them and I were one. I feel like that's a huge sign that I'm ready to bring this deck into my life. Thoth is fire! I totally get how the readings could accelerate one’s karma. Completely different experience than Rider Waite. Positive, joyous even. Not dark and infernal. Just... fire, power, energy. My deck really connected with me and I with it. Still, I don’t use Thoth every day. Only for special readings and occasions. Uncle Al undeservedly gets a bad rap.

Excellent overview. I've only used oracle cards and other divination, but I've had a growing interest in Aleister Crowley and I feel his teachings of Themela resonate with me a lot. I live in Boston and I felt inspired to take a trip to Salem today. I stumbled upon this deck and immediately felt drawn to it, though I had no intention of buying a tarot deck. I love the esoteric sophistication in the deck. What's interesting is that I did my first reading and I swear I felt a powerful energy using the cards. Pamela Colman Smith did an amazing job at illustrating the Minor Arcana, she took one word like Love for example (2 of cups) and created this whole universe around this one word...however, Lady Harris's works are so much more dynamic artistically speaking (especially the Major and the Court Cards)

I told my friend when I was a teenager in the 80's I wanted to learn tarot, so she brought me to the bookstore and bought me the big deck. I learned tarot on this sucker. At some point I didn't stop with the one book.. It CAN and DOES feel like you're underwater at times reading his stuff. I just kept reading it using it as a reference book while learning, and there ya go, The DeMilo book, I had that one as well. This IS A LIFELONG STUDY, So you DO need those books.... But he had stuff on YOGA and poetry, jeeeze I've got stacks of his writings. IN MY DEFENSE, at the time I got into this.... we didn't HAVE GOOGLE or whatever, so you were on your own with everything. It wasn't till years later I heard about all the colorful " other little things" about our dear Mr Crowley. Oh boy. And STILL fascinated. It never "dawned" ( 🐬 haaaa!) on me this deck was created during WWll.... Or IF I came across it earlier, I just glossed over it. So this whole history angle was a new spin on the whole situation. That's more amazing energy to The Art. I've had several copies of this deck since I got my first one. I know a couple of the decks have 3 MAGUS es - different art.

I really appreciate your insightful commentary. I have read a lot of Crowley’s books. I forced myself to learn the Rider-Waite deck first in the last millennium. I had the deck with the 3 Magus cards and learned the Major Arcana pretty well. I have studied Egyptian Lore and a lot of ancient history. I haven’t studied much Kabbalah but have studied Enoch extensively. You are so right about it being a lifelong journey with Crowley. 93 🔺 Welcome to the Aeon of Horus. ✌🏼

I enjoyed your video thank you! I'm currently half way through Crowley's Book of Thoth and am drawn to it each day as if I were going on a hike up a very powerful mountain. I also ordered more of Crowley's works that I'll be getting to soon after The Book of Thoth. When I was younger I dove right in and found out a lot a little too fast. The way you describe the two of cards and abstraction, it sounds like the Tarot De Marceille and the Pip card system. No fantasy story telling here, just very deep l, specific and clear! Numerology is a must with the Marceillle, I’m sure it is within the Thoth too? I just got my first Thoth; been reading other two systems for years. I have The Hermetic Order deck though, as I’m very drawn to the Kabbalah and The Golden Dawn.

I was drawn mainly to the imagery. I use tarot mainly to break free of mental ruts and force myself to look at things from a new angle, that perhaps I hadn't considered before. Not accessing new information, but making better use of information I already have or can plausibly extrapolate. This doesn't necessarily work so well with something like the RWS where it just presents a scene. That directs my thoughts, the Thoth deck works better at freeing them while still providing a nudge in a given direction if I'm really stuck. I'm sure there are some people for whom the reverse is true, but this is what brought me to the Thoth deck.

Me, who only knows the name Crowley from the show Supernatural: 😳 No but really I hadn't felt drawn to dive in with Crowley yet and see what was up with that. I recently went to an occult museum in August and it really gave me a lot to think about, a lot of understanding. I feel like I've been given the key to a locked library I didn't know was there 🙃 although I've been studying the occult for several years officially. due to my past with Christianity I vehemently reject anything with a cross on it but I am glad to see you explain it and I know much of esoteric stuff was appropriated by Christianity so thank you for explaining the different belief systems that are included with this deck (and area of study!)
