His comment "stress is part of life, it means you give a damn" ... really flipped my perspective on any depression I've had in life
@caseylittrell76124 жыл бұрын
Working in mental health it was surprising how many people didn't realize that what they feel is often normal part of the human condition. Depression, stress, and anxiety. In moderation they aren't bad or destructive and don't always need medicated. Like pain, there's a purpose, they tell you there's something wrong and sometimes the best treatment is some introspection to identify where "pain" is coming from and addressing it. That being said, if you need help always seek help.

@@thomasredden4263 amen Brother! That's some good advice. I'm thinking of keeping a journal like Matthew talked about. I feel I'll become more accountable to myself, especially for every wasted day, and have a record of my prouder moments. Having a journal, I think, encourages you to make your own story one worth reading. And that takes all of that hard work you mentioned, and then some more to accomplish.

I'm currently reading Green Lights and I find his perspective on life refreshing. I appreciate that Matthew allowed Joe to ask questions from every field. So many writers just want to promote their book and don't want to answer anything outside of that. Matthew opened up about many topics which allows us to learn more about him. I really appreciate that Matthew. In regard to religion vs science, I have to say that they can be believed in simultaneously. The reason for this is that science is no a religion, it's a tool to learn about the physical world.

He's a man of faith. McConaughey outlined the principle-based blueprint that leads to success. Studies show that people who are spiritual/ religious are happier, healthier & live longer lives. Prayer & meditation improve outcomes in all areas of medicine. Whether you call that God, the Spirit, the placebo effect, the power of positive thinking, etc., it works. Faith is a choice. Spirituality is a practice, like fitness, that improves one's life. Unlike fitness, it can also improve the lives of one's family & community.
@ssjwes4 жыл бұрын
@@scarlet8078 I'm not even a believer but can easily see how religion can help people in those ways. Structure and the belief in it are really helpful, when you boil it down to its most basic functions. You always hear "give someone something they can believe in" as something that can be empowering, well there it is, religion. The main thing I've ever had a dislike about it, is large organized religion. People have eyes and minds, they can decide their path. They don't need a central authority telling them what to believe. With the way I think, the more human involvement and sway people have over the direction of religion, the less I can believe in it. I've always heard that Gods words are written in stone, yet from what I've seen, mans desire and level of piety ebbs with the flow of time. "times are changing" sorry thats not supposed to be possible here, unless you're saying everything you've said up until this point was you misinterpreting Gods intentions...

It's a way of Feeding your Spirit Man and denying your Flesh Man. Basically look at it as you have 2 separate bodies living in one Vessel. Spirit and Flesh. You're body weakens, but your Spirit strengthens. That's about the best way I can explain it. Also I've noticed, a lot of times my Spirit will be full and it makes my body feel full. He has said "To understand me, you need to understand Texan logic". And it made a lot of sense to me. Being from Tx I know guys like him. It's a certain swagger. Manners. Morals. Roots you have growing up here. And they know how to treat ladies, I tell you what lol I love me a southern gentleman

it's funny, because my genuine reaction to him is that he's one of the least down to earth actors I've seen on any of these podcasts doing promos...even the simple fact that he's just making the rounds just to sell his book (a book about himself btw) erks me.

I hope he doesn’t partake in those evil Hollywood rituals

@@nGUNNARp he's a typical ultra self aware person with a lot of privelege. I dont mean that in a sjw way. I mean that in a literal way

Why Joe Rogan is so popular? Just curious.

@Justice for French victims Thank you. I was wondering because i was listening to this podcast with Matthew and I really like the way he sets up the tone of interview, very down to earth, and honest. I like that.

@@STILLDecibel it's honest deliberation. The type of media that is focused on is not honestly built. It is designed to get answers they want in 60 seconds insead of actual ideas and concerns over 2 hours of conversation. This is how we as people actually share ideas and come to compromises. 60 seconds builds dissent and friction with no room to discuss compromise.

@@theninja224 MSM are just paid to lie and spread propaganda, that much we know now. Joe Rogan is new to me, I don't know much about him, , its like he came out of nowhere and everyone is listening to his show, where Howard Stern left off, so to speak. He seems genuine.

I'm a far-left guy, but damn all the right wing actors are so chill. McConaughey, Pratt, Vince Vaughan...they're all so laid back and friendly - not talking politics 24/7 and angry at people who disagree. I'mma try to be more like them.
