@@liquidzen906 The way shadows and lights work is impressive. It's outdated, but the lighting looks more appealing than many games I see on the market now. The fact that something this good came out in 2004 is incredible. I literally just finished playing the original on PC and BFG edition on Nintendo switch. It looks really good. There's also a lot of atmosphere and little details. The audio logs and GUI surfaces really helped with immersion.

It is still impressive because all the rendering and lighting/shader effects can scale well with todays tec. Not many games have such good effects to begin with so they dont age well. I replay old games all the time and doom 3 is one of the games that looks great, many other games from the same time are not even playable without mods that swap out the renderer's for newer ones.

But if you simply look at the amount and depth of top-quality work this guy puts out, it's actually insane. He is an absolute master enginner, in the sense that he applies everything that's known and actually makes it work in practice. He's also well versed in a ton of subjects, and has a truely inspiring no-nonsense workethic and general approach to innovation.
