Being able to channel your strengths in a way that overshadows your weaknesses is the mark of a true leader. John Carmack pioneered modern gaming as far as technical workings is concerned, but more than that he applied his leadership skills to his craft. That let him create truly amazing experiences despite the limitations of the technology at his fingertips. The technology became a medium for him and not simply a means to an end.
