I mean, he seems like a good dude, but I don't see how Pauly Shore doesn't understand why he's not starring in movies anymore. I mean, he is the perfect example of the early 90s...none of that stuff aged well. He's not like a classically trained actor who can morph into different roles. He's a goofball with a funny voice and silly catchphrases and it served him VERY well in the early 90s...but there's no longevity in that.
@JustinBlazzzee5 жыл бұрын
qtr2244 Basically you’re saying he wasn’t a Shakespearean trained Broadway actor like Robin Williams was who could do serious roles like Good Will Hunting and One Hour Photo. Pauly Shores ONLY skill was to say “I’m the weasel ahhhh snsnahahsb”

Adopted is his funniest movie and he wrote and directed it. (Don't worry about the cinema snobs at imdb who had given it a 4.2; they wouldn't understand absurd obnoxious irony if it bit them: Danny Roane, _great_ dark comedy movie starring Andy Dick, has a 4.5, and Lower Learning, _great_ dark comedy movie starring Rob Corddry, has a 4.0.) And he directed and cowrote his second funniest movie, Pauly Shore is Dead. Actors in their 50s aren't in demand -- look at Brendan Fraser -- so Pauly ought to start writing and directing for younger actors, more shorts or whatever, as long as it moves him. He has money and art is fun. Woody Allen in Scooped would be a model for how he could be the third lead.

For those of you who don't know Joe Rogan and Pauly Shore hated each other back in the day because Pauly banned Joe from the Comedy Store over Carlos Mencia. Mencia at the time was a much bigger draw than Rogan was so because the 2 were fighting over (stealing jokes) Shore told Joe to take a break from the store. Life has a way of bringing things full circle. Here Shore is hat in hand and it's Rogan who's the commercial success now. However, the truth is Shore doesn't need to work and could live comfortably on his earning for the rest of his life. "Everywhere I go ppl are asking me why I'm not starring in films" cause your a terrible fuckin actor and your not funny at all. Fuckin bitter fuck. He's lucky he did one movie, he shouldn't question at all why he's not in Hollywood anymore. And if he's not homeless, he's a lucky person. Doesn't seem like he's intelligent enough to have a good paying job

Ali Jordan he has nothing to grind for with 20 million in the bank, he feels like the dude that used to be. Money can't make you happy brother, most of the time it just brings shitheads out of the woodwork and people will be something they arent to your face even if you both know that's not who they are. Its a terrible feeling, especially because people like you think he should just not be depressed because he's got dollars.
@xennial80sxberner7 жыл бұрын
I honestly feel Pauly's pain. I struggle with it myself, it hurts being past my glory days and not being a kid or even a young man anymore (32) and not being as cute/hot as when I was 14 and not getting attention from girls much anymore. He's a cool fucking dude and I dig that laid back stoner vibe, even if some people don't appreciate it.
@xennial80sxberner6 жыл бұрын
sumbody: didn't see your replies til now, but you nailed it dude. In a way I'd almost rather be in my 50s or 60s (providing I still had good health and stuff) than 30s because it's the transition. You're still close to being young, but aren't quite anymore. People even 5 years younger than us are still kinda in the youth culture while we're not, and it's when 19 or 20 year olds in college start seeing us as adults/dads rather than peers or big brothers.

@@TenilleLandy -- Pauly Shore: unfunny. Uninteresting. He is the little league kid who batted at the bottom of the order, struck our 99% of the time, but once got grazed by a pitch so he got on base... then the next two batters hit legitimate double or triple hits to the outfield wall, but with Pauly ahead of them they only got singles because he sucked as a base-runner. Pauly ended the inning marooned on 3rd base, and still talks shit about he was a star player.

I think some people are being too harsh on Pauly. I grew up watching him as a teen and he never struck me as being whiney, malicious or pompous. He's always struck me as being a good soul with a certain naive innocence, almost child-like. Knowing how he grew up in that pretty crazy world created by his parents, I'd say he grew up fairly down to earth. I can imagine that most people growing up in that world might not have been able to handle it so well and just go crazy in one way or another. He ended up loving acting, and say what you want about it, it's 100% true that he was huge. You can argue the how's and why's about why he didn't continue to be huge, but it's a pretty tall order for any actor to maintain that kind of success, especially in comedy. I could easily imagine him being in the lime-light once again in his lifetime. I didn't see and hear a man complaining about his lost success here, I saw and heard a man who just misses the good 'ole times and doing what he loves most. Nor did I see a man bad-mouthing others in film, like when he talked about being in Sandler's movie. I saw a man just missing playing the lead in the profession he absolutely loved. All you haters are so self-righteous, you think you know it all yet you never actually consider the other person and put yourselves in their shoes. Your hating sounds more like whining than anything I saw in this podcast, and the fact that you can vomit out a bunch of trash talk over the internet with perfect ease and impunity makes you the bitch.
