Joe Satriani

Joe Satriani

Күн бұрын

Joe Satriani, Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders) and Guthrie Govan (The Aristocrats) sit down in a video conference with Guitar World Senior Editor Andy Aledort and discuss their approach and thoughts about guitar, technique, inspiration and the upcoming G4 Experience.
More than a show, more than a seminar, more than a backstage pass, the G4 Experience will give you musical inspiration and guitar ideas that will keep you playing for years to come.
For the G4 Experience, Joe Satriani, Animals as Leaders (featuring Tosin Abasi, Xavier Reyes, Matt Garska), The Aristocrats (Guthrie Govan, Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller), and Mike Keneally team up and will be performing, teaching, and offering everyone who attends a chance to jam with them. All of these amazing players will be sharing their guitar knowledge and musical insights with the campers, and doing unique, close-up performances. Also featuring special guests Andy Aledort, Doug Doppler, Bruce Bouillet and Stu Hamm.
On June 28th - July 2nd, 2015, the G4 Experience will be the center of the guitar universe. Be there!

It made me feel good to hear satriani say that he sometimes hits that players rut when you just feel like you can't make anything happen, although I'm sure his rut is much better than me on my best day, it's a comfort to know that even world class players feel like that sometimes too..

Guthrie is actually not too fond of G3. He find it difficult to go through a whole concert where three consecutive artists play in such 'similar' rock/shred guitar music. He's telling me that he'd have more fun watching guys like Satch or Vai playing on a bill with entirely different players, like Tommy Emmanuel, Bireli Lagrene or Derek Trucks.

Sachar Micah I know it's too much to ask for, especially Guthrie, who's a humble, down-to-earth guy. But for fans like us, we want to see him on that stage with the greats not to impress them, but to give the audience a good time and contribute his musical essence.

Haha I've been sooo wanting Guthrie in G3 for years, to have him and Joe playing together is sort of like a dream come true!! I'd love to have seen Joe and Paco de Lucia together and seen two masters with very different styles compliment each other but sadly we lost him earlier this year. Very much looking forward to this and am sure it will only inspire me more as a player. It would be good at some point to see Allan Holdsworth on board but he's too busy right now on another planet, right? :-)

I'd love to see Frank Marino be part of the G3/4 thing. I reckon Frank is a much underrated player. Another really interesting one, would be Eddie Van Halen - though his ego wouldn't leave much room for anyone else. Has Satch ever played with Jeff Beck? That could work - just thinking out lound!
@Bunghullio
@Bunghullio 8 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, great comment! I too, believe Mr. Marino is an extremely underrated player, and in my mind EVH is THE most innovative player of our generation. So what if he wasn't the inventor of the two hand technique. He snatched it up, expanded on it, and turned it into a technique that every advanced guitarist should show some proficiency with. Not to mention his many different uses of harmonics, artificial harmonics, pinch harmonics, tapped harmonics, tremelo picking, vibrato bar usage, effects usage, slap-back delay with volume swells, and general use of every part of the guitar where a sound can be created from, all packaged up into one of the most acclaimed guitar tones ever recorded...the "Brown" sound! Tell me this, how can someone have so much gain and sustain on their instrument, yet it still seems so incredibly clean?

Damn, get off "Guthrie is the greatest" all the time! We all know he is like the Michael Jordan of guitar players, but other people can play the guitar really well and have a unique voice. Last I checked Guthrie didn't write all the songs that Satch, Vai and Tosin have written. There is enough space for more than one great guitar player on this planet. If only teens were always placing musicians in a hierarchy I wouldn't even post a comment. It's the grown men that are still making these subjective lists of the best artist that need to wake up. It's 2015, the internet is old enough that every adult should know how to behave.

@Galactu5 9 жыл бұрын
+Yngsatchvai I hear you. As great as some of the most technically advanced players are, there is still something about every players voice that resonates differently to different people. This is not a damn sport. Loomis wins on some days, Guthrie on another, Cobain on another. Depends on how you feel at the time as to what is best for you at that time! Thanks for your comment. Cheers.

He said yes hang on he's playing a song right now, so I told I was a HUGH fan & wanted the New PV Amp he had out. He hook me up me & my son when to the show. I thought I should get a signature so I ask Joe to write me an excuse for work, he lost it said he had never heard that so he got me a Tour Placard & wrote me an excuse for work.

Hey Joe! I am a professional and a major competitor in the business. NOT! LOL Come on man! I just do it for fun. My profession is Teaching. No not guitar playing. That's your job! I am a HUGE fan of yours! Just for kicks, I'm asking that you visit my channel and see what you think about some of the music I've written. (please don't be too harsh because I am only a novice and do it for a hobby). I understand that you probably won't even read this, but if you do, I just want you to know that I think you're a legendary master and I love your shows! ROCK ON BRO!

Guthrie self taught can still kick all their asses and I would go just to see him play, not a big fan of the others, even satriani
