For me one of the reasons you have a classic is because it is about bringing back memories for yourself. 🤷♂️.

A neighbour used to have a 1640 evactly like that, he used it for everything back int day. That one of Mick's is really tidy, there won't be many left in such good condition. I've got a 3050 myself, and an older 3130 that we use to run the mill.

My first tractor was a 1640 on a milk tanker. Great little tractor. Oh and the front window/door is off set so you have better vision out the front. Great video keep them coming mate 👍
@johns93152 жыл бұрын
Yes they was made specifically that way so it didn't block the emblem on the top of the bonnet at the front so you could use it as a guide to get your first straight line in when doing field work.

our farm was built on a 1640 with 245 loader over the last 10 years! a well capable beast, only let us down with the 2wd not being suitable to pull a 3m cultivator uphill, which is far enough for the little machine. broke my heart when we sold it, i learned to drive on it, all kinds of mechanics and farming on it, and the cab was wonderful. you should deffo get one!!

These 1640's are neat tractors to run I really like the power synchro transmissions that are in them. They're really reliable and practically will run almost forever. The only small points I don't really like about the 40 series is how bad the electricals are on them they're terrible and the cab liner as well it's they really tend to get loose over time. And when you don't give gas when pulling away it'll stall but that's not that big of a deal. Great machines if maintained well

I used to enjoy ploughing with a 4wd 3040 (pump turned up) pre sg2, while my farmer cousin used to drill with a 4wd 2140 sg2 cab. Sg2 was much the better cab.

Just wondering if you have to fill up the tractors that belongs to the lads doing the mase silage pit with diesel or do they get there own diesel
@johns93152 жыл бұрын
The farms they are working for normally supply the diesel.

@@johns9315 must be something that takes place outside of Ireland as de farmers in Ireland don't supply diesel

@johns93152 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe does your dad think if he isn't filling the lorry up then he isn't paying for the diesel 🤣 That's a nice looking 1640 Micks an I bet it's worth a bit too with low hours like that on it, dad had 2030, 2130, 3130, 2140 and the 4440 we tried the a couple of the 70 series but wasn't impressed with them though and moved away from JD then and on to a mix of Massey Ferguson, Case and New Holland until I went over to Fendts. The tractor you want to get Joe is a john Deere 2030 lovely little tractors they were, will give you muscles driving it though as no power steering on them lol It's nice to be able to go back and drive the old tarctors an see what they was like, my daughter would rather drive out old Fergie 135 what we have on the yard scraper that the new one any day as she says they are so easy, coming from a youngster that a great compliment towards the old tractors, should of let Em have a go on the 1640 so she could see what the old ones were like lol I'm guessing you don't remember the old crash boxes where you had to double clutch between ranges unless you got the reves matched just right to your speed? Not sure if you can take the leveller tines off your front press easily like we can our but the press is great for rolling clamps down if you mount them on the rear 3 pint linkage and turn the draught control right up to give max down force and a couple old John Deere single weights tied to the frame. My Mrs said this year is the fastest she's ever traveled chopping in the last 6 years since she started contracting where its so short and thin, she said nearly all the farms she's done this year so far have have very low yields compared to other years so your not the only one, some of our short maize we have rather than loose the cob trying to chop it we've decided to combine once it's dry then put it through the mill an if there is enough stalk left we will bale it for feed.
