very detailed tutorial - many thanks! why do you make separate rooms for each production? what's the benefit to making one big room for various crafts?
@BugPowderDust5 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) no real reason to keep production seperate, OTHER THAN kitchen and butchering stations. Keeping a butcher table (which creates a lot of mess) and a cooker (which doesn't react well to a dirty kitchen) in the same room is a sure path to food poisoning.

Could you put the cooling unit in a way that it's cooling the fridge area and heating a room where they sleep? Or would it generate too much heat for the room?
@BugPowderDust3 жыл бұрын
You could, and it would work, but it's then hard to control- ie. if you have a heatwave, you can't just turn it off, or the room it's cooling would heat up and ruin the food within. Better to control heat separately with a heater, so you can turn it down (or use vents and put a gap room inbetween so you can open/ close vents accordingly

Quick question how do you set for the roof to be built automatically? Must have missed that part
@BugPowderDust4 жыл бұрын
It defaults to be built automatically. If it isn't, it means that it either doesn't qualify (make sure all walls and doors are built, so it's an enclosed space) or it's been explicitly stopped from being built

why wouldn't you pump the heat from the refrigerator into the "living room" instead of outside . seems like a waste of a good heat source to me but idk how much it makes (i literally just got the game so idk a lot of stuff XD , watch the first one cause i wanted to know if it was worth it , i decided it was. continue to watch cause i wanted to know what happens next.)
@BugPowderDust4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. This question comes up a lot, and it's smart thinking- to a point. You can indeed do this, but you need to be careful. If you are on a predominantly warm biome, or a colder biome in the summer, you can run the risk of overheating the room it expels into. You can't just turn it off (if you do, your fridge will warm up and spoil food). It's easier to have an independent heating source that you can turn on/off, as power is quite easy to get in the early stages of the game.

Hey, great videos, thanks! Been trying to figure one thing out, and I can't find it on the wiki. When setting manual priorities, sometimes a box has a red outline. What does that mean? Wiki mentions gray-yellow scale for suitability, but not red...
@BugPowderDust5 жыл бұрын
Hey Juliean, thanks for the compliment. The red outline means that they have a *very* low skill in that field, so you really don't want to get them to be doing it as it will take them longer and they have a higher chance of failing that task. If you hover, there is warning text that tells you this but it isn't obvious it relates to the red outline.

I am just started playing literally yesterday, and another KZbinr mentioned to double wall the refrigerated area and put additional areas at the doors for like double entry doors to prevent heat seeping in. Is that a priority in early game? Or something that can be done later?
@BugPowderDust5 жыл бұрын
Nah, you can do it later to be honest. There are other things that are more urgent in early game when you have few colonists.
@joeltarnabene50265 жыл бұрын

man you had it easy. First playthrough following this I had to adapt quickly. A crazy boar attacked one of my members on the 2nd day and infected. Then when she recovered after being bedridden for several days a jackal came and tried to stab her. However, I wasn't taking any shit the 2nd time around and drafted everyone to fire at him at will. I felt sorry for the guy so I tended to his wounds and built a cell with a nice bed. Hopefully he comes around and I get an early extra worker. No hard feelings.
