Work Tuff Gear has a nomadic model, but it is a shame that SK85 steel has been replaced by stainless steel. Since JOE showed us the wonders of SK steel, I really hope WTG will bring back the SK85 steel model. I would like to say thank you to JOE for testing it destructively despite his injury.

Most of the knives are offered in both Bohler and SK85 steel. I agree I love the SK85 for toughness and ease of sharpening

The “stainless” steel you are referring to is by any chance Bohler K329, also known as A8mod steel, the steel created to substitute S7 due to better wear resistance and just a bit less tough? The steel they use in big wood chipper machines? If is this, you should not concern about toughness problems. This steel should be at least as tough as Sk85. I really really really hope they send a knife made in k329 to Joe!

Thats looks like a Leuku (big Puukko-knife) but has this funny knife, non indestructable, handle for some reason. That weird plastic handle ruins this perfectly functional knife and becomes totally useless after the handle is gone and thas really a shame. Such a good looking knife that took a serious beating. Knifes aren't meant to be shot, so I'd say also thats a clear pass. Real shame that the handle wasn't build to last, but even if the knife is bought as it is the handle can quite easily be disambled and build stronger. Easiest way just by adding a couple of vulcan fibre layers in the handle, tape the plastic parts that you don't want to have glue on and carefully glue the inside layers both sides, gluing the whole handle construction together with precition, screws and holes as well, tighten the screws, then you can and press it together with clamps firmly. Tighten the screws again to make sure there is no play in the handle construction left. Wait for 24h at least, and sand carefully the excess vulcan off, remove the tapes from the plastic parts, polish the handle and it will last in use a long time. Quick fun home project that is worth doing because its elsewise a very good chopper for only 300e. Its a bargin.

Now that's what I'm talking about for a torture test! The Hemlock Ares proves again it's designed to shrug off abuse! Thank you so much brother for your incredible testing and badass video of the Ares! I'd say I'm sorry about El Bricko but... I'm grinning too much haha 🤣 Now about the choil, I designed the Ares to be used as a survival / bushcraft all in one last ditch tool to do everything. Some of those tasks are much finer details and that's where the choil comes into play. The choil helps balance out the heft when choked up on the blade for finer carving tasks. Not everyone likes that, but definitely makes handling the beast easier over time. I'm proud to have my blade here on the channel and representing Work Tuff Gear. We came, We saw, We conquered! Loved every minute of it! Keep up the excellent work and take care of that finger brother! 😁🤘

I don't understand the prices work tuff wants. Everything I looked at was 230+ for made in Taiwan. Most of the steels are basic steels so it's ridiculous to ask so much the knife industry is marketing and lies. In my opinion. Really 1080 is basically what sk85 is so the knife preformed well.
