I just picked one of these up a few weeks ago. Seeing it was outside their typical US made Esee line, and wasn’t super expensive, I questioned if it would be up to par with their main lines. So first broke in half while doing extreme flex tests, there I thought it was too thin, but then it broke at the tang again after hitting rocks a few times, so clearly their 1075 was overly hardened during heat treatment, or did not tempered to be soft enough. Seems that RHC 50-52 makes the most durable blade for extreme destructive tests. Clearly Esee's 1075 blades are not as durable as Condor's, but for ordinary camping jobs, it's probably durable enough.

@@dasta7658 I know what you're saying, I'm old enough to remember before most things were farmed out to the lowest bidder. To be fair El Salvador is listed on the websites, and etched on the blades. They've been making machetes a long time, it's an important tool everyone has and uses often down there. Condor's machetes are $70-$140 without the esee warranty. I got a Darien when they were $60. I also bought a Tramontina bolo for $20, (they used to be about half that price). It will do the same job as any other, it just doesn't have a nice handle, finish or grind, or come with a sheath.
