I occasionally sleepwalk. Once I was living in a share house, with a mate and his girlfriend. I got up in the morning and sat with them in the lounge eating breakfast and they were sniggering. I was like, "What's up?" And they were like, "Do you remember last night?" Apparently I'd walked into their room and just stood there. When they realised I was sleepwalking they told me to go back to bed, and I did. The thing is, I sleep naked. :)

When my son was four, I was on the computer after I got him to go to bed. About an hour or so later, he came out of his bedroom into the living room. I looked up and asked what he needed, and he didn't say anything, just went over to the coffee table and pulled down his pajama bottoms slightly. Realizing what was going on I hurriedly carried him into the bathroom, and put him in the tub so he could pee in there ( he was asleep and I didn't think he'd be accurate enough to use the toilet). Then when he was finished and pulled up his pajamas, he woke up, and looked around with a confused look on his face. I just said calmly, "time to go back to bed." He just got out of the tub and walked back to bed and went back to sleep.

I think that's more of a fear dream. You are afraid of doing something embarrassing that you can't control, in front of others... Actually did anyone else know in your dream? Or was it just you? Coz of it was just you, then you that means you yourself are embarrassed of doing something where you loose control. It's similar to dreams where like mine, I often dream that I'm with someone... Friends, parents or my partner... And usually it's around train stations... Or in a big crowd... And I'll just turn around and they aren't there. I'll panic and realise I don't remember where we were heading to, to know where they would also be going... Then as it gets worse I realise I don't know the train station, not sure what the sign reads or where I am... And I keep getting into different trains go to different stations... Or I'll run into the street/crowd trying to find people or find my surroundings. That stems from a fear of abandonment... Kinda...or just anxiety of not knowing where I am, where they are... Being on my own. So not really abandonment.. But similar. Anyhow hope that helps you in some shape or form :)

A fun little trick I learned online to tell if you’re in a dream or not, is if you can in your dream try to look at a clock. Your dreaming brain is REALLY bad at making up or creating arbitrary times on clock faces or digital displays. Also, for best results, do it multiple times. Try to repeatedly look away from the clock and then back. The displayed time almost never stays the same because your dreaming brain’s sense of time is also affected. It can’t accurately judge how much time has passed, so the clock display might change every time, look fuzzy the whole time, or constantly be morphing and melting as you stare at it. It doesn’t always let me CONTROL my dreams, but I can reliably realize “oh, this is a dream happening right now.” I’m usually still along for the ride even if I recognize that, but it’s worked a few times where I can take control.
@Kewlausgirl2 жыл бұрын
I used to have a lot more dreams and control my dreams all the time when I was younger. This is a neat trick. I don't remember what my tell was. But sometimes I could tell I'm in a dream but I'm just going about it as it takes me through, like Connor's, or I'll change it myself. Especially if I'm not happy how it's going lol. But in the past couple of years I've been really bad with dreaming and don't remember a lot of it. I think it's because now I have bad sleeping habits coz of covid, work/adult life. So if you want to keep going about the controlling dreams thing... Stick to a sleep schedule and have over 7 hours. And have enough time to wake up and think about it before going off to get ready to go to school/Uni/work etc. I'm very time poor coz im a bad judge of time so I've been bad at this and I find it harder to remember dreams now. But it might also be because I'm getting older. It sucks lol

No kidding, sleepwalking is a bit of a curse. You wake up the next morning and find weird things out of place, messes, random bruises, broken items, and sometimes unlocked or open doors. I do find it helpful though to have a very clear alarm of when I need to slow down. As for dreams, I've lived entire lives in my dreams from childhood to death and awaken crying, sad to leave the life I built or even tried to go back because I wasn't able to complete some objective. As sad as it is to leave, I love that I have them.

The only trick that worked for me a little bit to lucid dream was looking at clocks and mirrors a bunch. You do it in your dream later out of habit and be like "Bro why can't I see my face? Why did the clock suddenly get so close and keeps changing every time I try to look at it? Why is this book so blurry???" And then you realize you're dreaming. But if you get too excited, you'll wake yourself up. And sometimes knowing doesn't mean you get to control it; it means you get more annoyed that your family is trying to pressure you into helping your neighbor's dog train for the circus and for some reason you can't really get out of it

I’ve never sleepwalked (at least that I’m aware of), but there was one occasion recently where I could not sleep at all in my bed all night, so after calling into work I migrated to my dad’s Lay-Z-Boy and fell asleep. At some point, I had this incredibly realistic dream. I can’t remember what it was about, but what stuck with me was the sensation of p***ing long and hard. Sometimes I become aware of the dream being a dream while I’m still in the midst of it; in this case, I was in the middle of this dream p*** when I remembered that I was sitting in the chair. That’s when I woke up, and I was terrified that if I stood up, I’d find that I had ruined Dad’s chair. Luckily, that part of the dream was not a reality! There was one dream I had in college that surprised me. In it, my mom was driving my little sister and I in her minivan along a seaside dock. We were on vacation, and for some reason this dock was the only way to get to the road we needed. It was high tide, and the water was only a foot or two below the edge of the planks. My mom lost control of the van and skidded sideways off the dock and into the ocean. She somehow bailed before it went over, and my sister managed to get the nearest side door open when the van hit the water. Mom helped her out, but I was struggling to get out of the seatbelt and the water was pouring in as the van sank. I got unbuckled and climbed as high as I could, but for some reason I couldn’t escape the van. I screamed for my mom, for help, but nobody tried to save me. My head went under and I could see them hugging at the edge of the dock, and Mom looked at me. As the pressure from the water built and I started drowning, I threw my hand out one more time….and snapped awake to find myself lurching halfway up out of bed, my hand still reaching for someone to grab it. That dream stuck with me for a long time, and renewed my distrust of my mom and sister for awhile.

So I separate from my mom to get this book, and I'm being followed by this random man. This man follows me around relentlessly, so in the dream, I'm like 'well shit' and for some reason I decide to hide in an ottoman to call my mom. I let her know abt this man and she tells me to stay put. My mom never got to me though bc the man lifts the top of the ottoman that I'm hiding in and says "hello". Then I woke up and I couldn't move.

I once had a dream where I was on an 1800s American Western-coal powered train, riding on a rail track above a body of water. Out of no where the center of the track falls apart as the train and I fall into the water. In my head while submerged under water I'm thinking, "This is bad", but immediately I realized that I was dreaming. So in that moment I willed myself to levitate out of the water, telekinetically lift the train out of the water like Magneto, and placed the train back on the track on the other side. My lucid dreaming is often within my control like the train dream, but sometimes I forget how to control my dreams. Cause one dream I was in front of my house when suddenly Broly in his LSSJ form came at me. So I tried to fly away as fast as I could, but all I could only manage to levitate at walking speed. XD

I've had that. Where I'm able to control a lot of it... But sometimes in the same dream or a few others after coz I have sometimes a lot of dreams in one go... I'll be trying to do something and I'll be like come on you have some this before... Normally it's flying. I'll forget how to... Or I can only jump really high now. And I'm trying to tell everyone I can do it... It's all good and then get frustrated at myself for not being able to do it. But I know I'm in a dream, and sometimes I'll go back to that dream if I've woken up, I'll imagine flying again and sometimes I can do it.... But then it's short lived Coz it was only a few hours before I had to wake up

Unbelievably I've managed to experience most of what you mentioned in here, minus lucid dreaming!

I’m also similar to Garnt in that I sometimes piss in my dreams, but never piss my bed in real life. Though, I rarely have lucid dreams, and a lot of times I don’t even remember having dreams on some nights.

I often have multiple dreams in a good sleep, and often can remember them. I also sometimes realize that I am in a dream, and consciousness to know I am in a sleep state

I have never sleepwalked as far as I know, but I have had a few weird nightmares. My most memorable nightmare was my first. I was five at the time. I was three in my dream. My parents and I were at a nighttime party in a building that was a big gray brick or stone mansion with a massive backyard on the outside and a fairly dark auditorium on the inside. It was all adults except for me. I was being chased through the crowd by a bright white somewhat cartoonish skeleton. No one tried to help me or even reacted to my predicament. I made it outside. It wasn't completely dark outside because I noticed that the grass was a vibrant green. I made it a decent distance from the house, looking back a few times. I don't know how I made it outside because the dream skipped from the auditorium to the massive lawn. There also wasn't a door when I looked back, just windows. I tripped just as the skeleton caught up to me. I yelled at the skeleton that I wouldn't do it. I woke up right as the skeleton was about to grab me. The reason for being chased: I refused to force my parents to eat carrots.

I understand Garts thing about peeing in my dream but still needing to pee in real life. I’m a very vivid dreamer and have violent nightmares often. If I’m stabbed in my arm in my dream, I feel the pain and even when I wake up for a short time after the pain lingers. I’ve been choked in a nightmare and woke up panicking because I still couldn’t breathe . Like I was still being choked even tho I’m awake and then I was able to breathe and.

One time I was sleepwalking while my mother was cleaning the oven and pissed inside the oven. She did'nt wake me up because she read that waking someone up when they are sleepwalkin was bad for development or something.

I majority of the time lucid dream or have extremely vivid dreams. A lot of my dreams are nightmares though. I don't know why but I've always been conscious when I'm sleeping that I'm sleeping. I've had this nightmare once I couldn't wakeup from once it's the scariest dream I've ever had.
