Relating to his line from Daily Routine "Traded in my Nikes for a new mic, i guess its safe to say he sold his sole(soul) for his new life.". Joey is a god damn genius.

King Capital Hip-Hop kind of is still dying though. At least the image that is portrayed of it. If you ask a random person on the street what is Hip-Hop majority of the time they will answer with people like Drake, Migos, Fetty Wap, etc., and believe its a disrespectful genre that's only about drugs, sex, money, and possessions. Big ups to the people you listed for constantly trying to revive the true essence of the genre though, but this far into the game it's going to take a long time before that image is changed.
@OhhJayL
@OhhJayL 9 жыл бұрын
How can you ever compare people like that, apart from possibly Kendrick and Cole (with Mick Jenkins added to that list), to Rakim, Easy E, Ice Cube, Wu Tang and all of the individual artists (apart from U-God, fuck that nigga), Mobb Deep, Nas, Pac, Biggie, Redman etc the list could go on for years. Hip hop is definitely dying, granted the original standard was never going to be exceeded, but when people like Migos, Chief Keef and OG Maco sell hundreds of thousands there is no argument against it.

@codename yeah, i should have worded that more specifically. what i basically meant is that Joey is a true trail blazer of real hip hop (which all i mean is that the hip hop that talks about problems in the world and isn't all about money, bitches, etc.) in this generation because of the amount of rappers that don't talk about real stuff, if you know what i mean. im with you on the music is music stuff though.

Lyrically yes, but there's different sub genres within the title "hip hop". I am a huge Joey fan, he's one of the best rappers out for sure. But that doesn't mean everyone else is trash. Thugger has created his own style and continues to produce never before heard flows and melodies. Uzi is new but he's makin waves as a smooth singing artist as well. Not all hip hop has to be bars and wordplay. Not knocking anyone, I'm just saying. It's okay to respect all types of artists

Cole and Logic are the light side of that same message. Just imagine : One project or atleast a track with all four, where they give a genius portrayal a couple different messages, and each one gives the dark and light side of love, anti racism, and overall problems in the world. Fuck im an idiot for thinkin it'll happen. Yes, a lot of people should be involved besides these four but these are the top four people seem to mention throughout youtube.

Joey got that phrase wrong. It's the love of money is the root of all evil. Money is only an object. It's when people love it when it becomes a problem like to kill for it, to steal for it, to sell one's body for it, to sell one's soul for it. 1 Timothy 6:10: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

I appreciate lyrical and phisophical hip hop. But sorry I have to say this, most of y'all "hip hop heads" are blind and ignorant. Don't you see?..... Well I guess you can't because you're too caught up in the past. Hip Hop is evolving. There are now genres within genres. That was the only thing missing from hip hop. We now have poetic rappers like Joey, Kendrick, and killer Mike, meanwhile we have rappers that just bring some fun into the game, A.K.A, the "mumble rappers". You wanna turn up and get lit, well you got uzi, rich the kid, lil yachty and Kodak. Wanna be on your gangster shit? We got trap music. Wanna just have a good laugh, and kickback to relax, well, we got satirical musicians like Ugly God and lil dicky. So you need to understand, hip hop is not dead, no quite the opposite, it's going through........ Let's call it a puberty phase, in a couple of years you will see that Hip Hop will be more beautiful and luminous than ever.
