So much fluidity in one person. He's like water. This is how I want my playing to be. I gotta go practice now!

Joey is a master musician. This has made my day! There's centuries of history running through this solo - incredibly inspiring stuff. Thanks Mr Baron!

What a joy to hear someone play so musically, so captivatingly, so genuinely. There is no a single note--not one--that's here to impress or to make a point. There is not a single note that is about drums per se. It's all about music, played on the drums. I never get tired of listening to Joey play, for just that reason. Thank you so much for posting this.

On top of tuning, he simply has a way of pulling the best tones out of whatever kit he's playing. Been a huge fan of his since my freshmen year at Berklee, circa '94. Keep blessing us with your magic Joey. ❤

70’s 20-minute drum solos should learn from this man. Actual playing, not just rolling through the toms.

metalmilitia137 Sitibis Exactly. Im not a jazz drummer but this guy inspired me so much. Amazing player. Cant say I have ever seen a solo like this before.

Agreed. Joey and Jack deJohnette are my top 2 drummers, precisely because they think like composers, not technicians.

Thanks a ton for posting this. The audio and video quality is great and KZbin is far too short on Joey Baron footage. Brilliant music.

Joeys feeling and expression always reminded me of Papa Jo Jones.

This is stunning. Joey needs to be more well known. Chops yes, but this is music not just drum technique.

Ahhh, the sound of properly-tuned drums. It's like everyone since the 60s has either forgotten or simply has shit taste.

The Baron! Master of the drums! Makes more sound, groove and most of all MUSIC! out of his 4 piece vintage Sonor Phonic kit than most modern heroes out of their monster sets..

This video reminded me why I don't enjoy watching drum solos lately... Most of them lack the feeling this one has.
