Joey is the best drummer I have ever seen live, and I have seen alot of drummers!!

Definitely an underrated god out there... Saw him doing a solo gig just like this and talked to the man twice over the years: humble cat with sooo much depth, dynamic and melody in his playing. Pure musicality without any ego pours out of this man. And with that smile on his face and his eyes close, he's offfff into the zone. Magic!

Such wonderful and musical drumming. So refreshing. Beautiful and delicate. What drums can be when played by a thinking sensitive and melodic master drummer. All drummers can learn from and enjoy. Thank you Mr. Baron.

A poet of the drums, because there are no words, there is no melody, but there are breaths, silences and a lot of poetry transformed into sound

The most honest player. Soulful...gentleman...sweet guy. Tones of music, tones of drumming the last decades. Joey Baron is the ONE! I hope to meet him one day...

Joey is one of the best out there and very underrated. I've had the opportunity to see him play up close and also be graced with his time after a gig. He is a true professional, a very fine human being and obviously a master musician. All aspiring drummers should check this player out and take what you can and apply it to your own playing.

Ironically, I knew Joey during this young age when he was being bused in Richmond. I met him at The Boys Club of Richmond just as he was starting out as a drummer. He still has the same impish smile he had as a kid.

Absolutely brilliant performance! Joey is an incredible drummer who plays the drums with such profound depth and feeling, every bit as evocative as any other instrument. Hats off to you for uploading this gem! /G\

Absolutely incredible! The musicality, the dynamics, the creativity, the sheer technique… I noticed that seven people don't like this. I'll never understand KZbin until the day I die. Who would dislike this video? My only guess would be 14-year-old kids who are upset that he is not wearing skinny jeans and playing blast beats?...

maybe they're bothered by drums that sound like drums, or not having a marching band 4 on the floor beat

@alexsh9 жыл бұрын
+toshbrice Yeah, sorry about that.
@MattFittPhoto6 жыл бұрын
The audio is out of sync by ~0.3 seconds. 1. Download the video 2. Open in VLC media player. 3. Right click for options. 4. Select TOOLS --> Track Synchronization 5. Select Synchronization Tab 6. In the "Audio Track Synchronization" field, click the Down arrow three times in order to input a value of -0.300 s (Hastened) 7. Watch and enjoy.

To see Joey in action with other musicians - which is something quite different, music/creation-wise - you could try kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5KxmpWFgJV5asU (a John Zorn piece, 1999), where he has an extensive solo.

Just your opinion, as a drummer I thought it was innovative and interesting.
@jakejke7 жыл бұрын
At some point, the ear must eventually hear (understand,intend) what it anticipates, what it supposes in the game. If the tension is never interrupted, the audience is just stretched, tense and annoyed. In most cases, people get bored. The audience, listeners must be satisfied and feel satisfied.
