I’m not sure whether to be proud or just laugh hysterically. I know I shouldn’t laugh, but my goodness, that just was both a nice gesture, and just plain old awful. RIP Joey. I hope you have an easier go in heaven man.

Let’s be real hear though, it wasn’t good. Props to the Oilers for being inclusive and all but for goodness sake why can’t we stop treating people with Downs or obvious issues like they’re perfect angels when they’re not. Joey was a human, not an angel. My props to him and I’m glad he was able to make something out of a life that otherwise would have been impossible to live without the contributions love and support of his family and friends. But my goodness let’s not lie to ourselves about how bad of a rendition of Oh Canada that was. Maybe that’s why he was a locker room guy not an anthem singer.
