HOF yes. JV is a great guy, met him as a kid playing for Dayton. He hasn't changed. Still mostly quiet and humble but when he wants he can be very entertaining and fun. He's is very generous to fans and helps people quietly off the record a lot more than he does at an event. He might be the last star baller who is loyal to his city/org/fans like it was 35 years ago. He's got a no trade clause without his approval. There's been opportunities but he's elected to stay in a small market largely out of loyalty. My biggest reason for being a Votto superfan. Long live the Capt. Votto (Mountie).

Joey is in this fase of his career so similar to the feeling of a middle school kid in the days previous to summer camp. He is so chill!! He did his job really well, and now he just have to end it properly. Great canadian sense of humor.

Unreal interview. I was listening to the re-air podcast (like I do everyday) and had to come over here to see if they left MFer in…which they did in the podcast and I almost died. Still laughing. Wow. New JV fan here!

Man as a Cubs fan, he’s a HOF no doubt, probably not first ballot, his ability to hit to all fields and his loyalty to Cincinnati is pretty unmatched. Consistently one of the best all around first basemen of the last 15 years. I’ve watched him continuously kick the shit outta my Cubbies.

I'm a Cardinals fan and have watched Votto for years and the announcers always say he's an odd duck, or he is an usual guy, or he has some weird quirks, so I paused today's Cardinals vs Reds game to look up an interview to see how weird he is. He seems very normal to me.

Without that "pit" there would be no baseball. Not to mention having fielded the greatest team in the history of the game.
@klintburns72302 жыл бұрын
@@archie15900 yeah, I know this🤨 He also won the MVP in 2010 and shoulda won it again in 17' when he hit over .400 in the 2nd half of the season as well as leading the league in obp 7 times. However, he wasn't a 6 time all star at the time he signed the contract nor would his career numbers have that big ah impact at that point. But I'm sure he could've easily signed somewhere else, idk how much larger a deal he could've received, it was one of the largest when he signed.
@klintburns72302 жыл бұрын
@@archie15900 yeah I get what ur saying, it's a valid point. I really think it boils down to who Joey is, personality wise. He never seemed to want the spotlight, especially early in his career. Joey was one of the best players in the league imo for a lil while. I mean obviously Pujols was already "The Machine" by then so I would put Joey right behind him. In the end Joey got paid AND kinda flew under the radar so prolly a win win for him🤷♂️
