I mean the Song itself is really fucking amazing, but if you are a part of the rare breed of people who are as much music nerd as they are LoL Nerds, this amalgamation of things is just absolutely insane. The Storyline of Deft becoming a Worlds Champ throught all the hardships he had to face in the Video with all the Nods to awesome players. New Jeans being involved into the insane Music Production that Riot brings to the Table time and time again... all of this is just so fkin amazing i had Goosebums all the way through the song. 2022 music also tells the story of Deft, who had failed for years to be world champion. He had lost hope. Eventually he climbed all the qualifiers in his region from the bottom of the leaderboard, and finished his run as champion, becoming a LoL legend. At the ending of the final i cried. Love the song! But here is some more context for the animation, since there is a lot in there than meets the eye initially about story. The story follows the story of Deft, one of the greatest (if not the greatest ADC of all time). He was always an amazing player, but just not able to find success on the worlds stage until 2022. First Act - High School Scene: Faker (widely considered to the GOAT of LoL) and Deft went to the same High School (Mapo High School), though they were not in the same class as depicted in the story. PvE Section (Deft vs Blue Buff & Faker vs Baron): Throwback to Season 3 (2013). Deft joins MVP Blue. The team was overall not successful. However, during that time, Faker joins T1, and takes the LOL world by storm and is instantly a superstar. Deft definitely respected Faker as a player, and seeing this is what makes Deft go "grind". Lucian vs Jayce Scene - Throwback to Season 4 (2014). The Jayce is PawN, who was briefly on Samsung Blue (the team that Deft is on at this point) before swapping to the sister team Samsung White. They face off against each other, with PawN Jayce one-shotting Deft Lucian with the hammer. Foreshadowing the overall Teammate to Enemy Narrative of the animation. Forest Scene - Throwback to Season 5 (2015) Deft, now with EDG, forms a botlane with Meiko (The thresh in the video). They make it out of groups as a second place team, and are set to play against Rekkles's Fnatic. They famously lose to FNC 3-0, with Rekkles pulling out his famous AD Kennen. Bonus: Rekkles famously looks up to Deft, almost like an idol. Ice World Scene - Throwback to season 10 (2020). Deft is now on DRX playing with Doran (the Jax) & Keria (the Braum). They once again lose in quarters, this time to Canyon (Graves) & Showmaker (Syndra)'s Damwon Kia (Now D plus). Keria had famously said in an interview that he would do whatever it takes to get Deft a world championship when the two of them partnered in that botlane, likely why there is the emotional scene where he sacrifices himself to protect Deft. Pit Scene - The transition from the losses to the story of 2022 Worlds. There was a chance that Deft was going to retire after this tournament, potentially (speculation) that he was losing confidence on the international stage due to his past. In addition, DRX was a team that just barely made it to worlds, having to play through a gauntlet for the last Korean spot and play through play ins. However, they make it through to the knock out stage despite the low expectations (people had said if any of the LCK teams weren't going to make it through groups, it was going to be DRX) The Arena - the first opponent: The antagonist for the team is Meiko's (teammate from EDG in season 5, the Thresh in the video) Renata Glasc. Meiko is still on EDG, now partnering with Viper. In the series, DRX fall to 0-2 in the best of 5, but in Game 3, Deft surprisingly pulls out the Draven (which is why he is carrying the spinning axes in these scene - Deft is not known as a Draven player. However, they win the game and go on to reverse sweep EDG. The Area - the second opponent: The antagonist for the team is now Doran's (teammate from season 10, the Jax) Renekton. In one of the games in the series, Doran got a massive lead in the top lane, but Deft (on Varus, hence the bow) and DRX win despite the deficit. The Arena - the final fight: Deft makes it to the top level (the Grand Finals of the world championship). There he sees his old teammate Keria (teammate from season 10, the Braum that scarified himself). They fight, with Faker joining part of the way. Just as it seems like Deft is about to lose, the rest of the DRX team shows up (Kingen's Aatrox, Pyoshik's Hecarim, Zeka's Azir, and BeryL's Bard, which, along with Deft's Caitlyn make up the team comp of game 5 that they used to face against Keria's Karma and Faker's Viktor, so champs are accurate to the IRL event). Together they are able to beat T1 and get Deft his first world championship. Now this is all just from the main storyline. Riot has a tendency to include some hidden easter eggs through the video, so there may be more callouts I missed, since I didn't go through it frame by frame. But, all this goes so how many details of Deft's story are depicted in the animation. Super cool to see imo. Sorry for the essay haha

LOLLLL @ the phone alert!! When I got the same thing on my phones this afternoon, it scared the shit out of me! LOL But yeah, this is a worlds hype song and i'm glad riot didn't completely repeat 2022, we wanted a good hype song and WE GOT IT! Also, to the people who doubted NewJeans - I think people don't understand how deeply skilled a lot of K-Pop stars are because they're used to a different type of pop star in their country, or they only see the mega hits from the kpop stars and don't realize how hard a lot of kpop training is and how these kpop agencies look for kids to train who aren't just good visually or at dancing, but also seriously good at vocals and/or having a dope rapping cadence/ability. NJ is a group that is stacked with good vocalist, and you don't always get to see that in more poppy tunes so people were doubting them, but I had faith - I knew these girls could pull off a nice hype song!! I always love your reviews man, but I SO love how you broke this one down, put respect on NewJeans name, and pointed out the dope vocals. dope animations, and overall amazing job riot did here production wise!! Great reaction! I wanna give the backstory of the video so the song is easier to follow for people who are not familiar with League of Legends esports. This video follows Kim Hyuk-kyu (player ID: Deft) who won the League of Legends World Championship with DRX last year. The video starts with Deft and Faker attending high school together as both are up and coming megatalents at playing League. However, their careers go way more differently to each other. Whilst Faker has won 3 world championships, made 5 finals and is widely regarded as the greatest League of Legends (and overall, esports) player ever, Deft before last season was known as a talented loser. He hadnt made it past the quarter finals stage at Worlds for 8 years. He was extremely talented, just didnt have that ''it'' factor (or so people thought.) The video shows various defeats Deft experienced at the World Championship throughout the years. The most interesting one is the last. You can see another player sacrificing himself to save Deft, that's Keria. He was Deft's lane partner and teammate back in 2020. Back then, Keria was an up and coming talent, Deft called him the best support player in the world and Keria promised to win Deft a World Championsip. Unfortunately it never happened. They lost to Damwon KIA, one of the greatest LOL teams ever. Then both moved on to new teams. The interesting part about that DRX team is that they were so extremely talented. Keria, Deft, Chovy and Doran are all regarded as some of the best players in the world today and Pyosik also was a future world champion. It was just a bit too early for them. If they stuck together for another year maybe they could've won the World Championship. In 2021, during a disappointing season with HLE, Deft injured his hand. Most people thought that would be it for him and he would retire but no, Deft decided to give himself one LAST shot to win the Worlds Championship. He rejoined DRX at the end of 2021. He was teammates with Kingen and Zeka who were young players many people didnt rate that highly. He also teamed up with Pyosik again. But most importantly, he was paired with BeryL in the bot lane, a veteran who just had been to 2 world championship finals in a row but had been let go by Damwon to pursue ''a better bot lane''. Now its important to understand that there was no expectations for this DRX team, they were complete underdogs and most people thought they would be a middle of the pack team in LCK and not make Worlds. That was largely how their season went. They were doing very good in a practice environment but just couldnt translate it to stage. They were mediocre. They barely scraped into the Summer playoffs but they lost early and finished 6th (LCK only has 4 spots for Worlds). They then had one last shot at the regional qualifiers to make it to worlds. They had 2 GRUELING 5 game series to unexpectedly make it to Worlds, beating LSB. But again, nobody actually had any expectations for them at worlds. They breezed through the play-in stage against weaker teams and got slotted into a group with Rogue (Europe's best team) and Top Esports (China's 2nd best, regarded as best by some) Most people thought their run would be over then and there but no! DRX actually topped that group and TES got knocked out. That was incredibly crazy at the time, TES was thought to have some of the greatest players in the world including Jackeylove and Knight, and Chinese teams rarely get knocked out at group stage. In the quarter finals, their opponents were EDG, the reigning world champions coming from China. 2 ex teammates of Deft, Meiko and Scout were playing for EDG and Deft was a former player of their. DRX fell down 0-2 in this series, 1 game away from elimination. Game 2 was particulary interesting. Deft was hitting the opponents base but couldnt end the game due to a 1 in a MILLION moment. It's hard to explain, just know that most people would give up after that game. Not DRX though, they rallied and they went on to win their next 3 games to make the Semi Finals. This series was played on Deft's birthday. At the end of the series, they gave a birthday cake to Deft during his interview and the whole stadium cheered for him and sang happy birthday. When the interviewer said that Deft hadnt made it past the quarter finals in 8 years, Deft started to cry. It was an extremely touching moment. Their opponents at the semi finals was Gen G, the champions of Korea. DRX was 0-8 vs Gen G throughout the year before the series and Gen G were overwhelming favourites. Gen G also had 2 of Deft's ex teammates in that 2020 DRX team, Chovy and Doran. In hindsight, this was the easiest series for DRX. They fell 0-1 down but went on to win the next 3 games in a fairly comfortable fashion. This was the series that had people starting to consider DRX as serious contenders. Their opponents in the final was T1, The greatest organization in League of Legends history and the team of Keria and FAKER. T1 were extremely dominant that tournament and once again were thought to be overwhelming favourites. People just thought it was a step too far for DRX. They fell 1-0 behind, than equalized to make it 1-1. They then fell behind 2-1 after one of the greatest games in League of Legends history. T1 stole 2 baron buffs from DRX. Most teams would be done mentally after that but the next game was a testament to their most important attribute, mental strength. They bounced back and made it 2-2. Its very rare for a worlds final to go to all 5 games. Its safe to say that every neutral fan was rooting for Deft at that moment. He was so close to finally winning it. The game 5 deserves a 1000 word essay on its own but here's the TLDR: T1 stole another baron but DRX managed to rally and come back in later teamfights, clinching the World Championship. Their toplaner, Kingen was the star that game. He kept them in it. Deft had finally done it. It was another emotional interview that made many people cry. Keria was absolutely distraught and tears at the end of the game. He had won Deft a World Championship but not in the way he wanted. Now, this was all focused on Deft but I wanna give a shout-out to a few other people. Kingen, their toplaner went godmode in the finals and was the star. Pyosik kept DRX in many games with his ''never give up'' mentality. Zeka had one of the best tournaments ever by any player ever and became a household name. Beryl proved that he doesn't need Damwon to succeed. He once again showcased his incredible leadership and innovativeness. If you read this till the end, thank you. Sorry its too long. The story of Deft is just so incredible.

This music video shows the story of Deft, he is a world class player all the way from 2013 but he had a curse of losing in quarterfinals after being a favourite to win worlds, he lost to SSW in 2014, fnatic in 2015, to IG in 2018 and so on, coming into 2022 it was well known that it would be his last year of pro play and almost no one thought he could win, after having disappointing performances in both the spring and summer of the LCK, his team DRX barely ended up as the 6th seed overall and had to make it through a regional gauntlet to qualify for worlds, after some close series they did and eventually made the greatest miracle run in the history of the game to win Deft his worlds title by beating his high school classmate and the GOAT in a game 5 final, after winning Deft decided he wanted to keep competing and has made worlds with Damwon as the LCK 4th seed again this year, they're definitely a dark horse to win worlds again. Here's an incredible documentary for anyone interested in the miracle run: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIC7lYKwoa6Yf6c

You can tell this guy is into music because all reactions of this song have not been about the song but the animation of defts story. Its hilarious because this is legit one of the few people ive seen actually fully react to the music only 😂😂

Hey Joey, thank you for the reaction! As always with League content like this I will try to remember you to check out Vi's champion theme which is actually a song performed by Nicki Taylor (she also did Worlds Collide). I know, I know its not new and has no animation with it, but I think its a good song. Could be fitting to get into the Arcane vibe next year. I would be very happy to see your take on it. ("Vi, the Piltover Enforcer" aka "Here comes Vi")

Please react to Dawid Podsiadlo - Phantom Liberty. It's one of the best music ever made for cyberpunk that sounds like it came out of a James bond film.

Yep yep, this is it, yeah i agree with you, maybe riot is rebranding their world song, which i like and for me they are seem to broadening their audience on world by these new kind of genre,, riot recent world song is magnet to newer people, doesn't mean they failed to delivery the song
