Motown of the past would've had the patience since back then labels actually understood that artists were to be developed. Ever since the bean counters took over, they now look for instant gratification (i.e. can the artist make hits right this instance). Artists like Earth, Wind, and Fire (whose sound that's associated with them started formulating in their 4th or 5th album) and a plethora of others from the past wouldn't have been able to drop the classics they dropped had labels back in the day been in the same impatient mindset as they are in today.

I like your take on it. I have observed many reactions to this song. I am a 61 yr. old working musician. I grew up with the music of this content. I hear a lot of stuff going on here. The setting gives it a more vintage appeal than the actuals. The arranging is very indicative of the 70’s era but I consider this new and fresh because we need feel-good music and not all this anger-filled stuff floating around. Also, the vocals in this are more a-kin to the OHIO PLAYERS style (Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIuuiKOKpsZlnJY ) not the arrangement just the harmonies and vocal approach on this (refined of course…LOL), analog reverb and all even on instruments and a singing drummer! Both these performers and in the top of music right now...let's keep it going!

In the Apple Music interview Bruno makes it clear that they are equals, and if anything credits Anderson as the lead artist. He’s really giving him the space to shine and make himself known to the world.

This song will be a timeless classic ! As a dj I agree with everything you said and the ending reminds me of old school 70s /80s music I didn’t catch that till you pointed it out !! When you hear a song and it gives you that stank face you know it’s magical ! Great breakdown of the song bro !

I appreciate your reaction and breaking it down it down by identifying the different instruments used . Love this smooth 70’s vibe. Wish they would make more music like this 🎶😎

Think what sets this apart is it sounds like it was actually made collaboratively instead of feature like mentally. Sounds like they made this in response to each other's ideas instead of trying to one up each other. Lovely Song. Big fan.

Bruno is like the modern day el debarge. This song is 🔥. Feels like they holler at Barry Gordon on this. Motown vibe. When the beat drop it was over.

Fanboy away! I felt like I've heard every chord and every "Girl" and every shift back in the 60's, 70's. So I had to go listen to a few hours of classics, of Temptations v. Four Tops medley dance-offs and swoon. I'm old, but these guys are the bomb, old and new, full of flirty fun. I watched saw a couple of song reactors spellbound, staring like they were getting messages from the gang to come through the screen. So simple, so busy, so silky, so innocent, so seductive!

I love the 70's (I so love old school, 50s thru 90s)...I love Bruno Mars, I have since he started...I don't recall ever hearin Anderson.Paak & Silk Sonic or Anderson.Paak or Silk Sonic...but together they r fantastic! The song n vid has got the whole 70s vibe which I think is amazin! I absolutely 💯% ❤❤❤❤❤ this song n vid, truly!!
