3:51 I know I'm super late but what that is is a dissonant chord. Dissonant chords are when you play one note of the chord and the other note of the chord is only one half note up or down from the first one. It's challenging to make it work in composition because no matter what notes you choose they will naturally clash but this is a good example of how to execute such a sound effectively within a broader composition.

The whole buying hair thing is such a weird line for a hook that it makes me think she is being sarcastic. Like... Her being savage by saying thanks to the haters that call her artificial? Kinda like that weird Taylor swift song(s) being like a portrayal of herself as shown in the media. That's why this song is also intentionally stealing from other songs and being very basic in the hook. OR it really is just wanting to be the next Material girl or something. I mean, either way its kinda dumb if you portray yourself as what the media says you are. You are thinking it shows "if you thought I was like that, let me show you how it would be if it actually was true what you are saying", but in the end arent you solidifying it and giving more fuel? Media would be like "see we were right all along". But in the end, either way this will get free outreach on media, I guess, so I get it That's why BTS' approach is better. Idol was also an attack on haters and media, but more in the sense of "I will do and be what I want" rather than "This is what I would be like if you were right".

If I knew other songs like Idol from other artists (not saying they dont exist) I would have mentioned them too. I don't think Mic Drop and 7 Rings are comparable, though. Since the flex is different. Mic Drop shoves their succes aggressively in haters faces while 7 Rings just aggressively let's you know about her money and deluxe life. Money that came from succes but it's mostly about what the money can do for her (if we take the song literally). As for my original comment, I just thought I picked up on a different meaning to the song. If im off base then whatever. Personally I would like it if it actually was a sarcastic look at how people see her. But then again thats going that awkward Taylor Swift route. But that does not mean I am hating on her.
