Another less observed way to add clarity is to change the tonal color balance of your source material with some colored saturation / distortion. Though it might not the best option for maintaining peak clarity, sometimes saturating and darkening a guitar or synth a bit will let your vocals shine through when done in conjunction with the fundamental techniques in this video. I do like Trackspacer, but it can only do so much without feeling like it's ducking too much.
@joeymusic2 жыл бұрын
You’re right! Trackspacer can only do some much, and colored saturation can definitely help blend things. This gives me another video idea! Thank you, Tyler! -Miami

i love stuff like this. this is the first i actually heard the volume lower after EQ when you Eq'd out the guitar against the vocals. i think it will be cool to have some sort of ear training series so we can hear the difference in carving out frequencies against 2 or more sources (e.g. Kick against the bass). As you said i never would have heard it unless you pointed it out.

HI, Great video. Question, what makes you choose bettween ducking a frequency, for example the guitar in the "talking range of the vocals" vs just cutting it like you did here? Thanks
@Middlestepofficial8 ай бұрын
Side chaining dynamic EQs or multiband compressors is the ultimate way to handle conflicting frequencies. One of the downsides is introduction of phase shift between frequency bands at the crossovers, but then, one can always use linear phase EQs.
