What he did not say however is that this trike also is because voice actors, not Zieja specifically but a lot simply complain about not getting paid enough. They were paid per the contract, they complained because perhaps taxes went up and when they contacted the studio and got their raise denied they went to SAG-AFTRA and boom strike. I know that because SAG-AFTRA does say that in their strike reasoning. And to be absolutely honest with you I don't see why the companies should agree to a raise. I mean look, can I go to my boss and tell him to give me more money because my country is raising taxes? Sure, I can but I will get slapped in the face with a no. So how fair is it that we as players who play a game cannot have proper voice acting because some voice actors rant about not enough money?

I don't think there is a way to fully stop AI now that it is integrated in the internet, but I feel like the legal system should be able to address concerns that have to do with certain aspects. If an AI was told to perform a voice for this android character that never originally had a voice actor or actress, that I think could be fine so long as they don't copy a voice based on a real person. If an AI was told to copy the voice of Taylor Swift for a song, THAT would be a significant problem to everybody. I just hope Hoyoverse gets it together and avoids AI usage, so many people frown on that, both gamers and non gamers.

there's this guy on youtube, Nadestraight, who worked as an artist for a game company for a long time, and his employers trained AI on the artwork that he made for them and fired him. he said he has no hard feelings and he sees the situation from the company's perspective, but i don't. THIS IS NOT HOW THINGS SHOULD BE. THIS IS DISGUSTING. the law should catch up asap and make replacing workers with AI illegal, because this is unacceptable. i support the voice actors fully. stand your ground while you still have it, whatever it takes.

Thank you for your explanation. Definitely gave me a much clearer picture of what's going on. Experiencing some characters being mute is definitely worth it to get this resolved.

Thank you so much for this! I’m currently trying to break into the industry and like you said companies are always weird about trying to sneakily get people to break picket lines (spoiler alert: they’re not actually very sneaky) Always good to be informed and up to date so I’m very grateful for this

As a non English speaker or native English i feel sad knowing that i won't be able to listen to a language that i understand due to on going strike, i hope all of the eng va situation getting better.

Thank you for informing and speaking out to the public Joe. I lost a job because of AI, I am not a voice actor but I can understand how frustrating this is.

Sending all the support to all actors, voice actors and artists for the protest against generative AI and its exploitation of our human talent, creativity and hard work 🙏🏻💕 too many people still don't understand the huuuge issues with GenAI, we need to make our voices louder ✨️

In this age of people just LOOKING for reasons to cancel others, this info video is fantastic. You went above and beyond with this explanation and I hope it helps to keep people off the VA's backs. I never put much thought into the intricacies of the whole matter, this sure helped ME have a better understanding. Thanks so much! 😊

Great video Joe o7 As someone who sees myself as an advocate of dismantling mis-information and be critical of what you hear online this was great to hear. Also; you do voica-acting coaching!? Man! Now I need to check that out too ;D

Thanks for shedding light to this strike 'cause it was a little confusing to me. I also understood from another VA that it affects the video game's VA agency it uses (not necessarily the video game company itself), which means the company who has several ongoing video games can have some games affected and other no, right ?

As an avid video game fan this is exactly the explanation I was seeking. Thank you. I still have one question though? Is the union simply seeking guarantee of compensation and mandatory consent or does it not want Ai models trained period? I for one am looking forward to all NPCs being able to have conversations on any topic related to the game world which could never be accomplished without Ai as voice actors can only record so many set lines of dialogue. I know quite a few developers have mentioned games could head in that direction. Of course it would be important for proper compensation to the voice actor for each time the model is used
@Falllll3 ай бұрын
Judging from what he's said and the SAG-AFTRA site, they're seeking guarantee of compensation and mandatory consent. They're not asking that the models not be trained at all. It's pretty clear cut and dry morally here.

Thanks for the video this explained things so clearly, i was curious why the strike was happening after seeing that genshins new main quest is partly unvoiced, and while that makes me sad Im totally with the people on strike with this beeing an important cause. I just wish the studios wouldnt be shitty and just sign ai protection contracts....

MASSIVE respect to you joe, misinformation is killing the internet, glad to see that you are willing to educate people so that they can then have an opinion on something that may be more complex than it seems.

had this recommended just now and watched it because my game didnt have all voice lines, thank you this actually helps me understand it better and im honestly not mad at the voices missing but at the companies that made this happen. i want games to be enjoyable again, so lets hope it will end the good way for the voice actors

Thanks for explaining the strike situation. I wanted to know more about it because I'm a Genshin Impact player and it concerns the game. You made it very clear in such a calm way to explain. I really like and appreciate that. + I only had to invest 10min more on this topic to understand. My hope and best wishes goes out to the Voice Actors. Stay strong everyone!

We need more no-nonsense breakdowns and coverage on AI , how corporations (and scammers though they’re near synonymous at this point) are using and training them, and the reasons why we need protections against AI usage like this. Time and again both common folk and ignorant people in positions of power don’t notice or even refuse to see the writing on the wall until it’s too late. These kinds of things need to be said louder for the people in the back because short of the Ghost of Christmas Future coming up and showing everyone what awaits them if they don’t avert from the current course (and even then there’s going to be those hopeless individuals who refuse to course correct), that’s the only way the people who are potentially willing to listen and act/support can get the message.

Thank you for the info. Also, thanks for breaking it down and that makes me feel safer to still apply to jobs without accidentally becoming a scab even though I’m not in the union yet. Major support to all the union though. Thank you for also promoting kindness to all.

This video appeared in my recommended (probably bc you are the VA of Wriothesley and I tend to watch Genshin related content) and I’m very glad I clicked on it. I’m not a voice after, but I thank you for this information nonetheless because I couldn’t make much sense of the strike. Really appreciate it, hopefully this gets resolved
