That's about 5 penalty minutes per game over 20 games... nothing too impressive. Andy Bezeau did way better than that- 590 penalty minutes in 74 games for the Fort Wayne Komets in 1995-1996. That's an average of about 8 PIM per game.

However, this guy's (Lee Jacobson) story is eerily similar. Both were doormen, both were former boxers and both broke into hockey the same way. Lee Jacobson apparently managed to play like 18 games that season and parlayed that into a full pro season the following year in the ECHL.

Brian Leighton he played in the ECHL for 22 games the year before and that’s semi professional, but it’s still professional just like the AHL is, at 1:55 he says the dude didn’t play in 5 years, although he played tier 2 junior hockey in the NAHL and played 3 levels down from the NHL in the ECHL, some ECHL teams are affiliated with AHL teams. They made it seem like the guy played jr B and and didn’t play hockey for 5 years, that guy literally played hockey every year before that AHL season. Nothing compared to Doug smith who started hockey at 19 years old.
@craigpiercer79
@craigpiercer79 4 жыл бұрын
Doug Glatt is based on real life hockey enforcer Doug Smith. Smith spent the majority of his career bouncing around the ECHL, IHL, and AHL. Jay Baruchel who co-wrote the screen adaptation of Goon decided to change Smith's last name to give some creative loyalties that would be unique to the movie. I couldn't find much on Ross "The Boss" Rhea . I'm not sure if he was based on anyone or just an antagonist to help the plot along?

Lee Jacobson had 6 penalty minutes in his debut game against Hamilton. The Fedoruk story never happened as they only fought once in their second meeting in february 05. He had a three fight game against San Antonio in january where he fought Grantt McNeill twice and Dion Hyman once and ended up with 37 pim. These clowns just felt the need to make fun of someone. Also, O´Brien ended that season with 319 minutes.
