😂No one in Switzerland can understand why Mc Sorley still plays his dump the Puck in the Corner and go for it system. Specialy even wenn he changed the Club to Lugano the style he let play is medieval, thats why he won nothing so far. Normaly they play ether the swedish style or the "normal" northern american style. But the problem of the League is that in past and current there are dominant Player from the NHL. So every Player the Clubs getting from NHL / AHL the mindset is that they have to perform like Ovechkin. If a former NHL Player comes to our League and he is the top defense Guy but he is not scoring after 5-10 Games the Player is getting blamed for not being on the top half of the scoring statistic.

I’m new to hockey, what is the northern American style and the Swedish style? I understand corner dumping tactics and can see how it archaic but I’m trying to learn the rest.
@cl25472 жыл бұрын
First of all you have to see that type of US and Canadian Coaches we have. They are former NHL Players / Coaches older than 50. They grew up with that Bootcamp-Style Training and Player-Handling. The hockey they let play ist more physic with tall guys for the 1:1 in the corners. The 4. Line ist most a Checking-Line or to provoke the other Team. They have a tactical line they have to follow and are nor so skillbased in there system. In general the scandinavian Coaches are more psychologists and let their player more freedom to react to the play. They are more skill-driven and have a skill-based fast gamestyle. They have good youthteams so it's normal that the 4. Line is a youth or younger Line as long as the results are good. And the scandinavian coaches normaly devide the time on ice between the Lines. The northern american Coaches have a tendency to burn the 1. Line and overplay them. A Guy like Mc Sorley is the perfect example for that burn the 1. Line tactic. Thats why in Playoffs his Team runs out of gas and he loses the important games.

You either like or hate it. If you hate it, you don’t sign to play on his team. But his coaching style shouldn‘t surprise you. And he still doesn‘t get the import thing? Thats like playing in the nhl and have no clue what a salary cap or a trade is! A swiss team could only line up 4 imports per game. They are usually among the highest payed players on the team. But they are also expected to be among the top players. On the second season he had 0.36 points per game. If in the nhl, your top line forward who is one of the highest payed players, scores only 0.36 ppg, everyone would call for a trade. In the swiss league you will just get benched. Geneva had more then 4 imports that year and all of them outplayed gerbe, so he was just the odd man out.
