another beautiful video, your smile made me smile, Otto eating blueberries, is there anything he doesn’t eat, as always looking forward to your next adventure. 😊

He eats almost everything ;) sometimes he's a bit apprehensive at first, but there's rarely anything that he doesn't eat :) Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words :)

The homecoming! 😊 The Quantocks Hills look lovely At least you didn't bring bedbugs into the hotel, Elli 😂

Yes, it almost felt like that honestly. It's just a very special place for me :) OMG, yes - the ticks were horrible... It was only after hanging up the tent when I saw them all over the place and only realised then how bad they had been. Removed about a dozen ticks from Otto and 2 from me and cleaned the entire bathroom to get rid of them :/

Elli and Otto congratulations both on 2000kms you are both awesome. Lovely seeing Otto walking ahead happily but also relax. Over being emotional that's the best thing about being human and getting outdoors and doing hiking where you truly learn about yourself. And I truly believe that you are proud about yourself and Otto and too right you are both wonderful. Really enjoyed and others too your videos, real true life . Take care both 👍🌷

Hi Elli & Otto, It's strange but I feel so proud of you, I know you're home however the adventure is not over for us yet as we still have more videos to watch, and I'm so looking forward to seeing how many more amazing things you will see and do. Also, Elli is doing a great job too. Hehe... 😜✌
@ellihikes11 ай бұрын
Hahahaha 😉 I love that I can relive the adventure when editing the videos, especially that last part of our adventure on the SWCP. There's just something special about walking along the coast and these last 300miles on the SWCP were definitely a beautiful way to end our journey... But there was of course some more drama :/ Stay tuned, there's still a lot to come 😅🙈

Dear Elli,so lovelly to see you smile and so happy again after your strenuous days in the last couples of videos. Looking forward to your next vlogs from the SWCP. Have you read Raynor Winn’s two books The Salt Path and Landlines? The first one is about her walk along the coastal Path with her husband. The second one is about their experience walking the length of Britain,like you are doing( just did).😊I highly recommend her books. Keep Smiling😊 You and Otto are so brave👍

Thank you so much for your kind words, that means so much :) I love Raynor Winn's books!! there is another one ("Wild Silence", her second one) where she writes about the time after they walked the SWCP and they did a hike in Iceland.... I especially loved Landlines, listened to the audiobook while hiking this summer :)

@@ellihikes I am sorry to have missed the second one. Have to read it now. I find her writing so moving and poetic in the way she describe the landscape around her.🌸

Massive congratulations to you both. I love being with you on this journey and cant believe its been 4 months. What is your tent please?
@ellihikes11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, Sue! That really means a lot :) My tent is the Durston x-mid 1, I'm really happy with it, it's weighs less than 1kg :)
@suewheeler579511 ай бұрын
I thought it was a Durston and it's stood up well to the UK weather and you certainly haven't had issues pitching. I've had my eye on one of these for a while. Would you recommend?
@ellihikes11 ай бұрын
Yes, I'm very happy with it. It felt like the big surface catches a lot of wind and I was worried, but with the right pitch it was ok and the worries were probably more in my head because I didn't have any issues whatsoever. I was pitching it a couple of times with the "little rock big rock" method when I couldn't get all the pegs in, but that worked well too even though it's not a freestanding tent.

Best way to remove ticks is to use a qtip with some alcohol on it. Just hold the qtip close to the tiqs face and it wil let go.
@ellihikesАй бұрын
Thank you for sharing! I actually find it easier to remove it with tweezers. As far as I know, the NHS/health professionals don't recommend using alcohol or things like that :)

What made you want to hike the Uk rather than Germany Ellie? x
@ellihikes11 ай бұрын
A couple of reasons, honestly: The UK is a lot more dog-friendly, the hiking community is amazing, it's so easy to find vegan food options. Also, the terrain is not too easy/flat but also not too technical like the Alps. Aaaand, especially when I'm taking Otto, it's not too hot in the summer. In the south of Germany and in southern parts of Europe, it's just too hot in summer to hike. I love cooler temperatures, the green landscape, etc.... I've also answered this question a bit more detailed in my q&a video a few weeks back :)
