@@davidmolnar8251 I got into Beefheart in my teens, and was thrilled decades later when my teenage daughter (independent of me) discovered Beefheart too (via Trout Mask Replica). And she was amazed that I had actually met Don Van Vliet in '78-- at the concert venue, in the lobby, people walking past him unaware that he was standing there as if he were invisible, and I walked up to him, greeted him, and had a short, bizarre, but friendly chit-chat.

There’s been some ugliness between Moon and Dweezil on one side and the two younger ones, mostly caused by how Gail set up the Trust.
@augustusbetucius2931
@augustusbetucius2931 2 ай бұрын
Moon and Dweezil have been shafted by Ahmet and Diva, thanks to a failure of character on their part, and as seed_drill stated, Gail set up the trust. When Dweezil isn't allowed to use the Zaapa name for his tours, or have access to some of his dad's instruments and equipment, that's really a shame.
@MK-xl9tt

It’s an age old story, ones insecurities and emotions can mess up an unforgettable legacy. If that’s the case about dweezil not being able to use the Zappa name and instruments is true that’s just sad. Any father knows frank would have wanted that

Just saw a more recent interview where Moon asked, if he was such a genius, why didn't he have life insurance? There was a big mess after Frank died, Moon's mother told her Frank did not have a will. This was a lie, and they didn't find out until their mother died in 2015. There are several people I've heard being called geniuses because of the way they wrote or played their style of music. But as human beings, they did not deserve that recognition.

Are you referring the terms of the inheritance giving control of the trust to two of the four siblings? The other two got 20% but no say in control. So she and Dweezel need permission from the other two to use Franks work. Not really up to the usual definition of deplorable. A person gets to distribute property as they deem fit. It is a business decision. We have no idea why Gail, the mother set it up as she did, but she had the right to do so, and owes us no explanation. Perhaps, she felt that the two would exhibit better business sense and respect his legacy. But who knows. BTW, the trust was reportedly massively in debt greater than the worth
@AnthonyFlack
@AnthonyFlack 3 ай бұрын
@@miguelservetus9534- apparently so, but the trustees drew a salary from it, while the debt ensured that Moon and Dweezil never received any dividends. Dweezil took particular umbrage at being ordered to PAY the trust for the right to perform his father's music, and the trust also ordered him to change the name of his tour "Zappa plays Zappa", prompting Dweezil to call it the "Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever the F##K He Wants Tour". Here's what Moon had to say about it - "It's complicated enough to be grieving the loss of a mean mom. And then to find out she was meaner than I could have possibly comprehended ... It's comical, the level of betrayal."

While I enjoyed this film, clearly Alex Winter's: Zappa [2020] is, now, the "be all-end all," top-of-the-heap as far as Zappa documentaries go (and most affecting, effective & affectionate! in its insight, understanding and ability to educate and illuminate (on the subject!)!).

And her dad did have one other drug of choice - caffeine. While producing Grand Funk’s “Good Singin, Good Playin,” Mark Farner has stated that he never saw anyone drink so much coffee. Frank had one of those coffee urns where you push on the top and it dispenses the coffee, and Mark said he had someone constantly refilling it as soon as it was empty. 😄

Her parents were both narcissistic a-holes that only cared about themselves. Her mother lied to the kids when Frank died, telling them he didn't have a will. They only found out when the mother died in 2015, and she had changed Frank's will, screwing over Moon and Dweezil.
