Many have the misconception that Johan is a normal human. He is absolutely not, he is in a human body, but he has the mind of a monster, hence why the show is called monster (it’s him!). A monster in the sense that it is an alien intelligence that far exceeds any other human. Not only is he so smart he looks at human civilisation like a colony of ants (remember vampire of Bavaria), he has his own goals and has no morality. He simply knows how to put on a mask of being human, he definitely is NOT one. The monster, which was the goal of seeing all humans grow hate and kill each other, found the perfect vessel with the freakish intelligence, and Johan is the result, until he rereads the book of course

Йохан, настолько восхитительный монстр разрушающий все рамки безумия и зла, что он надолго остается в памяти, не уходя из нее.Сейчас много аниме с красивой рисовкой, порой бывают неплохие идеи, но в итоге все выглядит как пластмасса.Йохан же прекрасный пример того как идеология отрицания мира, природного зла(сродне психическому отклонению), может совмещаться в одном мальчике, вырастающим таким идеальным чудовищем.Все таки атмосфера аниме 2000 особенная, сейчас такую не повторишь, даже используя рисовку. Соединение такой рисовки, музыки, а самое главное сюжета и идеи, делает монстра незабываемым аниме. Есть много сцен из него, которые не выходят из головы, сказки про монстров, сцена где Тенма осознает, что спас убийцу, а не невинного ребенка, но больше всего меня поразила сцена из детства Йохана и Анны, когда мать их обоих одела в девочек и отдала одного из детей. И именно этот поступок на мой взгляд изменил всю жизнь Йохана. Эта сцена так глубоко отражает человеческую психику в особенности детскую. Все слышали о детских травмах, но насколько хорошо это показано в монстре. Там даже не было слов. Все было в голове мальчика. Меня или сестру?Кого же она хотела отдать?Кого она хотела оставить. И эта ситуация как семена, упавшие в почву сердца Йохана. Со временем вырастили столько страшных демонов, в маленьком мальчике, который хотел знать, любила ли его мать. Такой простой пример, наверное потому и гениальный. Для себя могу выделить всего два аниме которые психологически похожи на Монстра. Они тоже 2000х, истории разные и посыл разный, но идеальное совмещение рисовки, музыки и смысла на одном уровне, и поднимаемые темы на одном уровне. Это волчий дождь и ковбой бипоп. И все эти легенды созданы в начале 2000х. Сейчас уже не встретишь, той атмосферы, что была раньше.

Johan is always the Best because he has a philosophy of life which is "absolute nihilism" , but the other character don't have a philosophy, they only claim evil, power, revenge.... In the second place, I will choose the Joker 2008 (the dark knight ) . Frankly, I do not see any other anime character like Johan lieber .
