All the good organists in the world are capable of playing without sheet music. This guy is a good organist. Without sheets in front of you you express the true music. Very moving.

We had this piece played at our wedding, and the college chapel we’d been choir members at also sang Wir Danken Dir Gott from the same cantata.

He plays the organ like I do from memory. Learned to sight read music as a trumpet player and then progressed to organ. But never did learn how to sight read for the organ. Sebastian I think can give the piece more feeling by playing from memory. Sight reading tends to sound more mechanical. Bravo to you Sebastian! One day I will learn this piece and hopefully play half as good as you!!! This is one of my favorite Bach pieces... It is truly amazing how our brains can hold all those notes in memory!

This piece is a transcription from BWV 1006 for solo violin. Good violinists play the piece at 120 to 140 bpm. The tempo of this performance is therefore perfect in my opinion. Besides the brilliant technique I also really like the registration and dynamics of this performane.

In my humble opinion, this is a brilliant rendition of the sinfonia. Brisk tempo, articulation is clean, precise and consistent throughout. Amazing control when he holds back a bit at the cadences. Hand and finger movements minimal but precise. Didn’t think I was going to like using the swell boxes to play Bach, but the dynamic variation is insightful and really works with the composition. Stunning performance all around!

You know I have to say, I never commented on these things but this is the best performance on the web as far as this song. I have listened to others but they just don't sound as good as this. I can tell this is his favorite song by Bach. I hope that his career is strong he is still playing, if not what a waste, I first found this video July of 2011 and have been listening to his professor along with him. HE DOES THIS AMAZING!!!! Even no paper back to follow. A professional!!

MfG, MS

Loved it ... was a little heavily voiced toward the end, but it was good. One comment on the videography ... this was *perfect*. No annoying changing of view, no movement. Nothing that detracts from seeing the artistry of the musician. Nothing to detract from the music itself. This may have been done with cameras set in position ahead of time and sync'd ... it *can't* be done better though. Perfect view of the keyboards and petalboard. Video of a music performance is not supposed to be showing how creative a videographer can be ... it is about showing how the musician performs and the music.

Fun to listen to. Like the way he modulates the volume. It's pretty fast, maybe sometimes loses a little of the distinct separation between notes that a slightly slower temp could reveal. But then the fast tempo does convey a lot of excitement, which I guess Bach would have approved of. Sometimes I like a little less of the bass so I can hear the other parts better, but there's a trade-off in that too. Everyone performs it in their own way, and that can add to the listener's experience.
@chen046612 жыл бұрын
Overall, incredibly well-played - amazing technical ability and a blistering pace too. I agree with the other posters though, a bit fast. The pedal seems a bit thick and heavy in some spots too. I guess that's what happens when you comine a Cavaille Coll instrument like Dupre would have played on, using Dupre's transcription of a Bach piece. Awesome job overall, love the ending.

@mickwable11 жыл бұрын
This is brilliant playing. But, alas ALL Hauptwerk setups demand a feel' for them. It sounds like a Hauptwerk - It does not sound like a real pipe organ. A good imitation, sad though, that's all. How can you tell? the key response is too immediate and the winding too late.
@MarkL717 жыл бұрын
