There are singers/artists like her in America, indeed throughout the world. The issue is the music labels in America, the media as a whole. The music here is all flash with little substance.

For one, it's apparently indeed _media_ as a whole, including news, which should be the exact opposite. But it goes even to friendships, politics, personal standing/reputation, ... Sure, it's nowhere near everyone, but the 'average' in terms of both numbers as well as degree is apparently much worse in the USA than a lot of other countries...

There is no composition that this incredible woman cannot make sound like a direct delivery from Heaven. To say that she has an Angelic voice, might be giving too much credit to the angels. She is obviously one of Tolkien's Vala. I think Tuomas has cornered the market on the finest female singers of our generation, no wonder he's such a genius!!

I suppose this is Johanna pretty much starting out over seven years ago in a 'talent' competition? And WOW - WHAT a talent. Just listen carefully to how she phrases this song (--2:28-----2:35--, --2:58--, --3:10--, --4:32-----4:38--) and the many nuances in it. It is utterly AMAZING. She turns what is an average song into a killer song. How does she do that??? Just natural - as only a few possess. And yet - she didn't go down this more commercial route - or singing international songs that could have related to a world wide audience and made her a global star (yes she had what it takes). Why not? And now she's pretty much still as obscure and unknown globally as she was then - - except in Finland of course. WHAT a pity. Yeah - she needed a star rated SPECIAL 'international song' written for her, plugged world wide and she never got it and still hasn't if you listen to her current stuff. Still time - but not sure she wants that - and somebody still has to deliver her THAT special song - otherwise like so many others - she'll sink without trace (outside Finland that is !!). Gutted.

Goodness - HOW the voice has changed over the last six years - and matured. Definitely prefer her singing in Finnish! Not much sign of the more gentle Johanna vocals here - in fact showing how capable she is (or was) at delivering more generic 'power' pop and 'soul' vocals (that last note!) - when required. Glad she didn't go down that route though. Wow what a talent.
