Cow holy. That kick shot on the 3 by Efren reyes that nearly missed the side pocket after the onslaught of safety's and kicks. That was a close game. thanks for uploading!

I like watching young johnny archer before all the nervous ticks started. No lint picking and wiping his cue down every shot. He got on with it back then. He wasnt slow by no means

After watching that truly epic safety battle, you can't possibly believe that jump cues are good for the sport. Don't get me wrong - I use shorties also but I will always look to kick first. Unquestionably the sheer beauty and art of knowledgable safety play is increasingly being lost, to the real detriment of the sport.

Nothing works my nerves more that playing a great safety and some one to retaliation to use a jump cue🤷

I hear ya. But I'm mostly lamenting the loss of the art and the awesome knowledge that kicking brings to pool. Jumping itself is not necessarily the problem - jumping with standard length cues has long been allowed in many pro tournaments. The issue is with the development of short cues that really enable even lower skilled pool players to jump, but often those lower players have no control and no real idea where the cue ball will come to rest. Lotsa of luck in the lower levels and a good deal in the top tiers as well. Some examples of equipment limits that make sense are in tennis for example. Head sizes of rackets are strictly limited. As is length of rackets. Even pro baseball disallows use of things like aluminum bats. Etc, etc, etc.... For sure, there are positions where going for a jump cue makes sense. But what's wrong with making players learn to jump with their full length break cues? It's marketing and the push by equipment manufacturers appealing to the masses. Guess I'm just old skool, but I am far more impressed with deliberate, skilled kicking and kick safe knowledge than jumping, which is a skill. Just that the shorties make jumping too easy. Cheers man... @@alexcollins1630

Yes. And a bunch of other OG legends as well. I came into the sport when jumping was highly discouraged in order to prevent damage to the slate and the felt. Most real pool halls I played only allowed higher level players to even jump with full length cues. Sure, Earl and others would occasionally jump with full length cues, but often that was a last resort shot, NOT the first immediate option. I guess that's what bothers me a bit nowadays. I see so many amateurs [and even some pros] immediately go to the shorty without even looking at the kick, especially when the kick is easy and the chance of a kick safe return is pretty high. It's just that Efren style of play that I miss. Yes, allow jumping,. But take it back to only using full length cues. Bring the art and knowledge of the sport back...I wish...lol cheers! @@alexcollins1630

Great match the cloth reminds me of what we use for BCA 10 ball on Valley tables. Love how my cb placement plays compared to standard diamond tables of today. Currently shooting cue is Earl Strickland Cuetec cue pre SST shaft.

These older matches are so much more enjoyable to watch. We have sacrificed quality and excellent commentary for fancy graphics and technological BS. Side note: anyone else notice Dom Mysterio at 2:49?

Can't understand why Efren's push out left that nine over the pocket and instead just moved the seven. Yet then we wouldn't have seen the amazing answer by Archer
