@@tilz4527 He’s pretty underrated when you compare him to other guitarists. How many times has been on the cover of Guitar Player magazine, been on interviews for Rolling Stone, LoudWire, Metal Injection etc? I can guarantee you for every 1 appearance Van Halen had 5, Hetfield or Hammett have had 5 or 6, hell Sammy Hagar etc. my point is that sure you & I know who he is, we understand how incredibly talented he is but I can assure you having played guitar for 34yrs myself & “paid attention” to the “guitar pop-culture” since 1987 John5 does not receive anywhere NEAR the recognition he deserves. In my humble opinion he is within the top-100 if not top 50, possibly even top-25 if you consider who he has played with & how diverse & versatile he is, greatest guitarists of all time. He doesn’t receive nearly the credit & acolytes he should get even being in the top-100 greatest of all time.

Maybe it would be more appropriate of die hard fans to say that they feel that he doesn't get the respect or recognition he deserves instead of saying he's underrated or unheard-of. He's definitely a good guitar player. One of the better ones for sure. The best? Maybe not but EVERY good guitar player brings something very important and special to the table. And the musicians he's played for did pretty well when he was playing for them too. I bet majority of people who criticize his playing have never played for Rob Zombie or Manson or Motley Crue. He's doing something pretty damn well..
