Love these pods and this man is so flamboyant with his prose! Describes exactly how I’ve felt towards electronic music the past few years. It is so hard to find true expression that unlocks your emotions.

Founder of Beatport, Splice, and Traktor - what a resume! Smart dude

I don’t think he was the founder of any of them. If you google enough (beyond 1st page results, which I did at his own suggestion), looks like he was an early user, evangelist, investor, but not the founder of any of those things. Plus 8, and Difinitive, arguably the 2 best contributions mentioned, seem to clearly be co-founded by him. Stay curious 🔊🖤🤙🏽

You need to get John on again and talk about his history BEFORE house and techno. He alluded to it a bit, but he's a fucking outright Canadian DJ/music industry legend that doesn't get enough credit for what he's done. He also happens to be a super nice guy and used to send me promos for my radio show back in the 90s. I met him at a rave and we got chatting and he gave me his email, then we struck up a bit of a conversation through email, at which point he asked for my email address. From that point on, I would get every new release he distributed because I was looking for Canadian content to play on my radio show due to Canada's strict 35% Canadian content rules on radio.

Great guest and some interesting points but got to be honest the questioning and digging deep on any individual strand on this was pretty weak.

People using sampled samples of samples that were sampled in 1989 pretty much sums up the new scene....who's to blame?
