I’m a big fan on Franzese. However, there was an interview where he said he didn’t know about the possibility of him not being Sonny’s biological son, THEN, in another interview, he talks about how he tried to get his fathers approval so because he was worried since he wasn’t his fathers biological son. I just don’t understand how he could speak so adamantly about both. I’m sure he’d have the same amount of followers if he told the truth from the beginning. He was who he was. I guess it just goes to show that people never lose their insecurities.

The thing that is confusing is Michael grew up believing that sonny was his step father and like you said he always wanted his approval because his mother was always mean to sonny's kids from his first marriage her step children, so he didn't want sonny to treat him like that as his step son. Then later in life either right before or right after his mother died she told someone that was helping her write her book that sonny had an affair with his mother while he was married with 3 kids and she was still a teenager. So it was a scandal at the time for her to become pregnant by a married man. So when her parents found out they made her marry the man who everyone believes is Michael's real father so she would be married when she gave birth. Then sonny divorced his first wife and Michael's mom divorced her husband and then they got sonny and his mother got married. So everyone still believed that sonny was his step father, I'm sure to not make the mom look like a slut they continued to hide the truth and i guess right before she died she finally told the truth that sonny was Michael's real father and she was forced to marry her first husband. So Michael didn't find out until way later in his life so that is most likely why some of his interview answers conflict.

Few things wrong here: Sammy was convicted of his involvement in 19 murders. Convicted, so it’s not a fairytale. Also Sammy never stated that he had done all of the 19 himself. In the early days as an associate or soldier he may pulled the trigger himself but afterwards surely not. Why? He didn’t need to. As an Underboss you do not carry out hits yourself, you order them and associates (like Alite?) or soldiers carry it out. You did state many facts about John Carneglia, but I don't agree with the never hearing about him because I have heard 100's of stories about him to which it seems you have heard many yourself. I think you are a bit miss guided in your overall outlook about him where as Alite uses Carneglia as a means to an end which is to downplay the Gotti's whenever he can. I get the fact that Alite and Gotti Jr. have bad blood from their fall out that continued to spiral out of control on up to today, but the fact is Alite lies so much to the point he has destroyed all of his credibility. I remember right after Bet David did the Sammy Gravano interview right after he got released from prison which was almost as big a deal as the Dian Sawyer interview with him after he flipped. Then Bet David followed that up with John Alite which was the first interview of him that I saw him in, and I was shocked by some of the things he said knowing they couldn't possibly be true making me wonder how true was the rest of what he was saying. Everyone else at that time kind of fell for what he was saying at that time, and he got a big following for a good while. However, it was only a matter of time before people started picking up on the bullshit, and all you have to do is read this comment section to see that he self-destructed with it being 98% all comments. I think John Alite at the outset had a plan to make money by coming out planting his flag back in New York and then going from interview to interview taking advantage of the intrigue of the mafia community by talking tough saying whatever he wanted plus catching attention by going against the grain painting a different picture than the traditional narrative. If so, it worked better than he hoped, but he then ran wild with it taking it to far, but the problem is you can't go back on what you said so he really had no other play but to double down which exploded in his face. Last thing when it comes to Carneglia I agree the man is tough there is no doubt about that, and he was feared by many people because he was capable of taking someone out at a moment's notice with seemingly no remorse. However, many people get lost in the fact because he carried out the orders, he was given that he is the real power or the one you better not mess with etc., but that is miss guided because ask yourself why this guy is running around do what someone else says. Even Sammy said himself and we all know Sammy & John Gotti became mortal enemies in the end yet Sammy made the point just because Joe Blow pulled the trigger doesn't really mean shit there are 100's or 1,000's of shooters in the mafia the real power or the most dangerous guy is the one giving the orders and the one who plans the successful hit that gets carried out, but anybody basically can pick up a gun and pull the trigger. What made Carneglia have the power & respect he carried within the mafia was his reliability to carry out hits successfully, but had he turned on John Gotti he would have been made a memory. John Gotti had handfuls of others just as dangerous and reliable if not more so even with a few of them. If John Carneglia was the one everyone should be worried about, and so dangerous blah blah then why was the government so obsessed with taking Gotti down at all costs yet seemed uninterested for the most part other than indicting him only because he an accessory to John Gotti. Look at Roy Demeo and the Gemini crew unquestionably the most savage crazed bunch of serial killers most likely in the mafia other than Murder Inc. itself. That said even though they were the most feared in the Gambino family at that time there weakness was not following the rules, and history shows how expendable they were to the point they almost got whipped out it was the Gemini twins reputation that saved them 2 and got them passed over to the Luchese family who needed a big piece of work carried out for them & they carried it out resulting in them becoming made in that family as you may already know. The fact that those 2 guys got released recently is nothing short of unbelievable. I wish I knew how they pulled that off because I do not believe for a second, it's a coincidence the both of them got released almost at the same time yet they each have their own sentence and did their time in different prisons. I think some how they maybe gave some information or something to earn their release matched with good behavior to seal the deal. Let's just be honest considering their crimes they shouldn't have ever been considered for parole when it is believed their crew killed and made 200 people disappear dismembering their corpses. I digress, I didn't mean to ramble on but tried to make my case clear why I was saying what I was. Maybe it makes sense hopefully it is just that I see many people saying things a long those same lines as yourself but seeing that you have real knowledge on the mob, I figured I would say something this time. The mafia is full of tough guy's very dangerous individuals so to speak, and being violent is easy self-control is what is difficult which seems to be completely forgotten these days. What made Carlo Gambino so respected and dangerous at the same time was his self-control. The guys 2 buddies grabbed him and got to shut up real quick hoping the whole thing would be ignored or forgotten. The guy so drunk didn't know he just signed his own death warrant, and ole boy came up missing a few days later. You will never hear of a story about Don Carlo getting into an argument or doing anything violent much less anything to make you think he was anything but a nice old man, but he was 1 of a couple most powerful gangsters in the U.S. at his height even becoming the so-called boss of bosses as head of the commission. So, whether someone carries out hits in my opinion is irrelevant.
