Nice reaction yall. John did a wonderful job of talking about the destruction of Native American lands in a moving way that doesn't get people's dander up. Bend it Until It Breaks and Swinging are two of his many great songs and he recently collaborated with the Bellamy Brothers on No Country For Old Men which is awesome.

This song is special to me my Great Great Great Grandma was full blood Seminole. I remember being told stories as a child. One my grandparents told me the government sent them to Florida hoping the alligators would get them. I went to my room and cried myself to sleep. Had they got her and my ansestors I wouldn’t be here today.

As a Floridian, this reaction was an instant subscribe. I love this song and all it stands for. I lived in Seminole County for years and I understand this song. You would have no idea this areas history by looking at it. We stripped the history away. If the seminoles saws this area now, they absolutely would cry.

I love John Anderson and this is one of my favorite songs. It just pulls at the wild side of your heart. Watching you listen to it, you could see the moment that first note grabbed you. That is what it does to me, every time. And I am from the PNW. JA's stuff. "Straight Tequila Night." "Swing'n" also there is a song by the Bellamy Brothers ft John Anderson, called "No Country Music for Old Men" that you should look for. As far as Jason Isbell "Cover Me Up" "King of Oklahoma" and "Last of My Kind" Chris Stapleton: "You Should Probably Leave", "Broken Halos", Starting Over." also, once you do the Bellamy Brothers you will want more so... "Let Your Love Flow." "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me" Great job guys.

I have no idea how I missed this upload. This is my childhood. I probably listened to this song at least three times a car ride if my father was driving. I drove people crazy because I’d hum it all the time. There is just something about this instrumental that relaxes me and makes me really happy at the same time. Full disclosure: I’m a Floridian from birth. So I really appreciate the message of the song too.

One of my favorite songs. My husband's family ( therefore my children & grandchildren) are native American. This song makes me feel like a stretch of Rt 17 between Tappahannock & Fredericksburg Virginia. A lot of the land along the highway is in land trusts so it can't be developed. When I drive through there I feel that it looks like it did when their ancestors walked through. They are members of the Patowomeck tribe, pronounced pah-to-mack. Just like the river.. Pocahontas was my husband's 10th great grandmother.

Lake Okeechobbee, I believe, is like the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the contiguous US. My friend and I camped there once, a long time ago and the size was amazing. We had to play around with staking the tent on one side, because of the wind coming in from the lake pushed in the canvas of the tent.

So glad you guys got to this one! Just the haunting fiddle alone is so good, and it still gets stuck in my head long after hearing the song. This has always been one of my favorite John Anderson songs, and I believe it's one of his all time best ones. Anderson has actually been around since the late 70s and was one of the first of the "new traditionalists", but his career fell into a bit of a commercial slump from the mid-late 80s. This song and the rest of the singles from the album also titled Seminole Wind were responsible for giving John's career a second life in the 90s. It's one of the greatest comeback stories in the genre, imo. For more John Anderson, I'd definitely check out "Straight Tequila Night," which may be his signature song, if not "Seminole Wind." That's the one that served as his big comeback in 1992. "When It Comes To You" and "Let Go Of The Stone" are also must listens. I agree with you both on his voice, too! John Anderson easily still has one of the most unique sounding voices out there in country.

Great reaction to one of my top 10 favorite songs ( Thank you Sheila!!). The panhandle is a very nice place to live, the people are awesome. One of the odd truisms about Florida is that the further north you are, the farther south you've gotten. One of my great Uncles, lived in Aripeka, he used to tell me I sounded like a 'damn Yankee'. Which was funny as shite..with his deep south accent. Yeah, mines not *that* bad...except when I'm pissed. If you look at a topographical map, you can still see the original area of the Glades and how the Kissimmee river flowed.

If Ken Burns wrote Country Music this song would be it. The album of which this song is the title track I would rate in the top 5 country albums of the 1990's. In fact I have this album on CD but unfortunately the CD has been stuck in the CD player of my old hooptie for 5 years now. Apparently my car is a bigger Anderson fan than I am. I would suggest another big hit from the same album to react to called 'Straight Tequila Night'.👍

I've always loved this song. It hits home more after I learned that my lineage is primarily Muskogee. Both Creek and Seminole are Muskogee, with the majority of the separation having been forced by the US government, so they could steal our lands. Traditionally, they greet one another using a term for "brother" or "sister" in similar context to how people use the terms in churches.
