There's still good music being made. Never gonna be another Townes Van Zandt or John Prine but there's a Zach Bryan, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson, Mason Jennings, Todd Snider, etc... Defeatism and nostalgia is nothing but something to cry about. Open your teary eyes and stop crying about it. You probably weren't that cool back then either. When you say "they don't make nothing good anymore", you should include yourself in that and add that you never did.

First time I heard it was driving to work at the wonderful time of 3:30 in the morning. DJ said here's a new one from John Anderson. I kinda laughed thinking back to "Swangin'" and thinking what this time. The song came on and within 5 seconds I was like.... WHOA WHOA, what is THIS? Did some checking at Record Bar and found out I had completely whiffed on Seminole Wind. Bought the CD on sight.

So do I. I think in later years, the title song, "Seminole Wind" became the defining, signature song of Anderson's career, but back then, "Straight Tequila Night" was the big hit.

As the band warmed up in walks the man, John Anderson and they played, he sang , Straight Tequila Night, it was number one on the country charts that week, you bet my wife and I danced to it , right in front of John, i could have and should have shook his hand, no shit. By the start of the 1990's, John Anderson was considered a has been, who hadn't had a #1 country hit since the early 1980's with "Black Sheep." When I first heard this country classic on the radio in December 1991, I nodded my head and said to myself "this is definitely going to be a#1 Billboard country smash for John Anderson, while pointed to the radio dial. "Straight Tequila Night" indeed went #1 for John Anderson in March of 1992 and ended up with three chart toppers that year, plus two more afterwards; one in 1993 "Money In The Bank" and "I've Got It Made" in March 1994. John Anderson is now in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Glad to grow up in the 80s and 90s. I’m taking all these great songs with me to the nursing home!

I worked commissary while in prison for an 80 yo woman, Ms. Boswell her instructions…”keep the store stocked and good music on that cd player” eventually I made my way to the cd player discovering GOLD, in this little 15X10 prison grocery store I discovered country. John Anderson, Don Williams, Ronnie Millsap, Clint Black oh and how could I forget Freddy Fender!! Thanks Ms. Boswell!

I saw John Anderson back in 1975 at the Holiday Inn in Richmond Hill, Ga. We were both young!
