Just discovered Geoff thompson and Jon Anderson,recently read Animal Day and watch my back,have implemented this stuff into my own training.

I’ve trained in John & Matt’s street defence sessions, after reading ‘Watch my back’ (& Matt’s grappling lessons) in Coventry and they are both scary lads! Nice blokes but absolute animals in the street. Geoff Thompson was asked what he could do against someone like John ‘Awesome’ Anderson and his reply was ‘about 100mph’

Yes, from interviews they say they've had to be fighters from where they've come from, rough areas where you had to be able to fight, or you just got done over, and that's understandable. Definitely great guy's, down to earth too, I can imagine

This man had no formal training from what I understand, but by all accounts an absolute monster in the street.
@seanwood88834 жыл бұрын
Yes, think he was mostly self taught from what Geofd Thompson said in watch my back, that and experience of working in really rough pubs and clubs where you had to be tough to survive and not get walked over.

Self taught , had lots of years of full on violence experience from the doors and then did some Boxing training and grappling with Matty Evans who is a very good grappler instructor. A lot of the fighting and violence John Anderson has experienced would crush a lot of trained fighters who are only use to the gym or dojos not all but a lot with myself include !! I’ve had the pleasure of meating Matty John and Geoff Thompson and they are all top fellas and they are very welcoming when you meet them.👍 All real fighting men no BS and zero BS egos either. Guys like these don’t have that about them that is very refreshing.

Geoff speaks so highly about this man’s fighting ability. As far as I’m aware he had no formal training, but working in the Coventry doors during the 80’s would be been like being in the eye of the storm.

John Anderson & Geoff Thompson have the best self defense knowledge for the street. Simple, functional and effective. More people need to teach this type of self defense. Real world knowledge that will keep you safe. Does anyone know if they are still teaching seminars today?

After a left hook just throw a straight right 👍🏻
@t-rex56713 жыл бұрын
After throwing a left you will most likely be too close to throw a straight right without stepping back....I prefer a right uppercut after the left hook, but I’m a tall lanky guy myself so I need a bit of distance for my straights. A shorter guy could make it work
@monitor47283 жыл бұрын
@@t-rex5671 it’s all relevant to the situation you’re in ...and the distance you’re at ..if I’m throwing multiple shots with the same hand I’m grabbing hold of that person ...I’m not a fan of the way he turns his fist over but again all down to personal preference .

With gloves on you can throw hooks palm facing you, bareknuckle you have to turn the fist over in order to make contact with the right knuckles

@@Traps510 What !….. Yes it’s exactly how I said it …just speaking from actual experience and what I’ve used countless times . If you want to throw your hooks that way and you’re a couple of inches off you’ll catch your opponent with your last two small knuckles and SNAP broken metacarpals ( not just my opinion I’ve seen it ) .. if you’ve used your hooks like palm to the floor and they’ve worked for you then great mate….it’s up to you what shot you want to use isn’t it 🤷🏽

I am surprised that thugs who make it a profession by working doors become "legends". What one has to understand is that mostly they have to face adversaries who are drunk or on drugs and regardless have nil fighting abilities. Result, the bouncer becomes hero. It is like taking candy from a baby. Not only that, the "hero bouncer" to reinforce his reputation as a badass continues through with kicks to the head of the downed incapacitated opponent sometimes permanently maiming him. I am quite certain they wouldn't fare so well against a skilled traditional martial artist. These people should be banned from "instructing' . They hold a totally wrong attitude and should not be allowed to teach others how to become thugs themselves.
