great stuff. I didn't know John Barry was so good at telling stories. It's interesting to hear that he doesn't seem to take his work TOO seriously, while I think Goldfinger and Thunderball are truly masterpieces.

It is a shame that this very good interview of John Barry was not longer and should have gone into a very detailed examination of his other superb James Bond music scores from "FRWL", "YOLT", "Diamonds Are Forever, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service, "TMWTGG", etc. The discussion he had with the interviewer about "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" was, unfortunately, not detailed enough. I would absolutely love to hear a detailed examination by Barry of his four masterpiece Bond film music scores, "Thunderball"(1965), "YOLT"(1967), "OHMSS"(1969) and "DAF"(1971) - especially the incidental music from his Bond films. My absolute favorite incidental pieces of music that he wrote for the Bond films are, "Tiffany Case", "DAF"(2 versions), "Circus, Circus" and "007 and Counting " from Diamonds Are Forever"(1971), "Capsule in Space","The Wedding" and "Mountains and Sunsets" from "YOLT"(1967), "Try", "Battle at Piz Gloria" and "We Have All The Time in The World"(instrumental version) from "OHMSS"(1969), and "Into Vienna" and the other instrumental version of "If There Was A Man" by Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders from "The Living Daylights"(1987). And the reality about Barry's music score for "TMWTGG"(1973) is that the incidental music for that Bond film is actually outstanding even though the Main Title Song is a bit of a clunker! The incidental music from "The Man With The Golden Gun " is so underrated and underappreciated by Bond film fans!! If John Barry and lyricist Don Black had come up with a superb Main Title Song for "TMWTGG", then that music score would have been Barry's 4th consecutive masterpiece Bond film music score after "YOLT"(1967), "OHMSS"(1969) and "DAF"(1971) and his 5th overall because "Thunderball" is really Barry's first Bond masterpiece Bond film music score)!
