I have always adored how the same theme reflects the passage of time -- bright and tinkling at the beginning of the film, slow and more introspective and mature at the end. John Barry's genius.

What a great music - I remember when this was being hummed by our mother when we were young as lullaby!

An absolutely charming and adorable theme. I'm sure I saw this film some years back, maybe on You Tube but can't recall anything about it. Sir Larry also talks his way through a vocal version of the theme. I certainly don't remember that!

It's a good little film. It was broadcast on U.S. TV sometime between Feb-March, 1975. I believe this was the last score Barry did prior to his move to the U.S.

Lyrics: Thee is love, thee is wine, But more, much more Thee is sun when the day is cold This delightful romantic comedy deserves to be much better known. It won 7 Emmy awards in the Made-For-TV Special category: Director, Lead Actress, Lead Actor, Writing, Costume Design, Art Direction, and Set Decoration. The movie was written especially for Hepburn and Olivier (both aged 68 in 1975) who were acting together for the first time, though they had known each other for decades. I have long loved this slight, sentimental ‘glittering souffle’ of a movie for its witty articulate dialogue, outstanding acting, and beautiful period setting.

Agree-one can imagine Fiona Fullerton singing this theme.
