Great song. Written by Eddie Bheartla. It’s a song about a real life experience he had at sea with Beartley Casey as his mate. Eddie joined the priesthood after raising his family and his wife passed away.

Many thanks for uploading this brilliant song and its singer. I've only done the same as you in transcribing the lyrics. I think the 'Púca' in Irish/Celtic folklore is described as a spirit/ghost and in this case refers to the name of a boat/ship. The only other reference I can find is that it was named after a feisty ram where the farmer to whom it belonged would rent it out to other farmers to do the business in increasing the size of their flocks. Also the 'lore' is short for folklore. Anyway have a sing along to the song with my slightly edited lyrics.
