Regarding the sound you hear with this video - the bass drum was hard to pick up, as placement for the zoom q3hd wasn't the easiest to get an all around sound. For the rest of the sound, provided you are listening to the video through decent ear-buds or head phones or decent speakers connected to your computer, you should be able to hear a reasonable audio recording based off of the Zoom Q3HD which was one of three cameras used to record this. The other two cameras are the Go Pro Hero 3 Silver edition model. Their audio is nowhere near as good as the Zoom Q3HD, so that is why I went with it for the sound. (-Chris)

i get that you guys are trying to emphasize the sound of the cymbals, but taking the kick drum away from a DD song is sacrilege

not sure if trolling or not. This is the camerasound for once and the kick is just too quiet be heard properly. Second.. i dont know what your using to listen but i can clearly hear the kick.

these videos are filmed on GoPros. The mics on GoPros aren't great so it makes getting the low end sound of the kick drum difficult but it's easy for them to pick up the high frequencies of the cymbals. They aren't trying to drown out the kick drum, it's just that they can't accurately pick the kick drum up with the equipment being used. And like the dude above said... it helps to be listening to the video on something that has decent speakers (no laptop or mobile device speakers). The kick drum is definitely there, just not quite as loud and boomy as we would all probably like it

It would be so nice if these kind of videos would take the sound from the mics... with the camera mic there is no bassdrum and even the cymbals sound muffled.

hi ville, i would love that as well. but you cannot believe how fast these things happen. it's all on the go too. at some point i would like to try and get into some kind of portable system that allows for me to take a board feed off of the mics, but with how fast change-overs are, with different meinl artists on the same bill,not being able to be in two places at the same time, i.e. at the board to watch over a very expensive lap top for recording, and on stage to get camera placement, it's all just a bit problematic to handle it the way you mentioned at this time. - chris

Because that's what he likes to use? You don't always have to use top of the line cymbals. I have Byzance hats and sometimes prefer my soundcaster customs.
