This song will always hold a special place in my heart. Tell me where life goes in such a rush Like that melted snow in your blue eyes No one ever could try to tell us Both were young and full of all our lies We got in real deep they all could see Running from the sun casting our shadows No one trusted us not even me We hung ourselves to rot upon our gallows Lies We built our castles high upon the rise Oh, so young, young and wild [x4] Tell me where life goes with some old friends 'Cause we don't see each other anymore All candles do melt, we burnt both ends And there is nothing left we have in store Down I saw myself there lying on the ground You blew your breath Deep into my soul Where we have been No one will ever know Where we have been no one will ever know Oh, so young, young and wild

One of the most moving songs I've heard in a long time Mr. Butler. Can't hear it enough. The older I've gotten, the less emotional I've become, but I'm bawling like a baby right now.

YES, 'YONG and WILD' is a consciousness, timeless in its telling, I am an 85 year inhabitant of Mother Earth yet the Wild knowing of Youth prevails in my very BEING... It is the bounce in my step, it is the ever present Spring of my birth , it is the theme of Rocky as I ascend flights of stairs, it is the pulse of love within my heart, it is the supernal Joy of having a beautiful and spirited, Great Granddaughter who lives the light,

This is such a beautiful song. Makes me think of my life's decisions.. good and bad. Makes me wonder what it would be life if I did things differently. Makes me think of the people iv helped and also people iv hurt, people iv stepped on to get ahead but ultimately ended up nowhere but where I began. Life is what you make it... think of what you can do to improve yourself and accept responsibility for the wrongs you have done to your friends, family and yourself. Everybody deserves to be at peace with themselves.. something iv struggled for a long time with... Iv always loved people more than iv loved myself despite what iv done wrong.. I can be selfish at times as anybody can be, but letting it eat you up inside for wanting to be normal is natural.. The problem with that is nobody is normal, we are who we are, we are unique. We all make mistakes.. Acceptance and forgiveness is the only peace anybody will ever truly find for others and themselves. This song hits me hard.. John butler, you wrote a masterpiece and I will forever hold this song in my heart as I am sure you do.. Spread the love and keep writing beautiful music.

That look he gives at the end of the song where it seems as if he just entered that time frame and sang his story face to face to the one he had to let go. You can tell he doesn't want to open his eyes to come back to reality but stay just a bit longer. The sad, empty, nostalgic gaze. I am too familiar with this currently; but having a song to relate with on the same level helps significantly. Thank you John

On a whim, I clicked on Ocean. That was the first time I ever heard a song and knew from the video that it was played on a 12-string guitar. They touched me so strongly I've been playing guitar for 10 years and never really connected with it I was encouraged to go find a 12-string guitar that sang to me. This is what I was looking for. Thank you for helping me on my heart soul's Journey. You are truly a blessing.

I would much prefer him as a guitarist, without the vocals. As far as I'm concerned, he gets lumped into the whiny, mumble-mouthed, dread-head festival player category, but he's better than most of those ain't-lived-yet-but-I-got-shit-to-sing-about fools. I do not give a fuck if anyone wants to criticize me. So tired of people who denounce thoughtful if opinionated commenters -- such as me -- as 'trolls'.
