@@wolfslynx8118 Escape From LA was awesome. Especially the ending. It was supposed to be more LA vibe while the original was NY vibe. This is why the first one is dark and gritty and real and the second one is larger than life and silly and over the top. They're both truly awesome.

I also agree with Sean Blanchard that Kurt Russell and John Carpenter together with Rowdy Roddy Peiper with Keith David are two of the best things to happen in Hollywood.I saw this movie in 1981 when it came out I was 9 years old and growing up as a second generation immigrant in North Europe and Europe began transforming culturally especially west Europe copying the American culture and today all over the world with the ghettos and the nationalist racism.Escape from New York shows what was going to come. Also in They Live is what was going to come with covid-19 a lab made virus and new world order.Today we need people like Snake Plissken and Roddy Peiper with Kieth David in They Live to guide us in the dark future that is coming.Snake Plissken live forever.also we shall not forget in the last scene he scraped on Station 19 on the wall which has become a TV seriers.Today in the year 2022 things are difficult.looking back on these movies they give us strength today in this world surveillance terror which Edward Snowden told us.Very nice movies.

OMG good times--all the monster movies UHF VHF, 70s tv horror, night stalker, creature features, and great grindhouse works like EFNY. I miss those days really compared to the MCU and Star Wars vapid junk something nostalgic about those days of having to hunt for a late night kaiju or hammer film and you felt like you found a treasure lol.

John Carpenter is a great filmmaker. He was doing stuff Tarrantino did decades before (case in point: Big Trouble Little China), although comparison maybe not accurate but hope I get idea across. He said he wrote music at first for his films because couldn't afford--yet Halloween, EFNY: These are great soundtracks!. I have always loved the tone EFNY music set for dark future masterpiece (I saw this as kid in 1970s) and I think you could still just move the setting up several decades (WWIII, Russia and China....). This movie is great and shows what a great story a a filmmaker can make with limited budget vs the Lucases and Speilbergs whos portfolio has turned to junk but with billions dollars to back them nonetheless. The Thing? I have NEVER seen better practical effects than Rob Bottin's to this day and remains a Halloween must watch each year. They Live? John is not only filmmaker but prophet of conflict theory. I know Im in minority, but I actually liked Ghosts of Mars, not because it was remake of Precinct 13 but I liked how John, who always wanted to do cowboy films (google) took the genre and made it matriarchal! Its a story idea not a film idea but it shows IMO what great thinker and how creative he is and EFNY to this day, even with the cassette tape and the tracking device which was a off the shelf kids toy, is still a masterpiece of atmosphere (much like Blade Runner from Ridley too imo). I believe if you read one of the "fathers" of Cyberpunk said he loved the line "you flew the Gullfire in Leningrad" in WWIII because it hinted to this whole dystopian backstory universe that you could immerse yourself in, and I wish there was good paperback stories set in this universe (I know a few comics made attempt). Welcome comments.

Asked about Escape From Earth (that was his planned 3rd film)....hes reply was up to studio but he has some ideas. He also pitched a horror film based on Dead Space--he is avid gamer and said he thought he could do a good film version of it, but said he didnt think author of game "liked him" lol I didnt ask (nor have time) its a production line at this meet greet photo ops.

@@davecoalwood9487 agree Dave thought I was in minority I hated making it campy or whatever. EFNY is still great imo even w the cassette tape and tracking device that was an actual off shelf toy - it was dark tone was serious and I loved hearing about this WWIII world and airborne assault on Leningrad. Then JC decided to do a camp kinda parody that I guess was meant also as attack on Hollywood est I’m not sure but never rewatched. I would have been more interested in his adventures in New Vegas, Thailand territory of US then a remake of EFNY (JC did what jar jar abrams did with The Force Awakens he remade an almost exact copy of A New Hope plot was .... not for me).
