One of the things i really enjoy about Carpenter's scores is how minimal they are, but evoke such strong feelings.

It was as if John had predicted the future nearly 45 years ago. You look as these films and John had stated how he accomplished the gritty look. Escape was shot in what was left of East St. Louis after rioting had left the city just burned out shells of buildings.

What I like about Carpenter's themes is how they perfectly foreshadow the villain. - Christine's theme describes her subtle influence and when she fully takes control. - The Thing's theme describes it's mysterious origin and evil nature. - Halloween's theme describes how Michael Myers slowly closes in on his target and then strikes. - They Live's theme describes walking among what is not seen and the alien's hidden propaganda.
