I met Carpenter and he was very cool. I actually asked him why he comes off grumpy. He laughed and said, “it’s a huge emotional rollercoaster for me to talk to strangers. John was rude and patronising. I went off him after seeing this interview. I know he is a heavy smoker which can make people overly agitated but he usually controls his mood swings. Maybe because this was for a company in Britain artists often let themselves go as it isn't America. E.G. Robert Mitchum was more mannered in American interviews but when he came to Britain quite a different character was on show.

We met John and Cody that night, near the tour bus outside the Vicar Street venue. We waved at him like mad to get off the bus (we'd had a few) but he shook his head. When we were halfway up the street, one of the security guys called us back and said "John wants to talk to you". And there he was, climbing down from the bus with his hand outstretched. I don't know why he changed his mind, but I was beside myself. Unforgettable night.

I really like Carpenter's laidback, pretension-free view of films and his own work. @JoKiR90 Жыл бұрын
It’s his fault 100%. He’s been in the movie business since the 70’s. He knows what he’s getting with these interviews. Especially at this point in his life and career. Inside of 10 seconds I could tell this was going to be a painful interview to watch, and I paused it to read some of the comments... sure enough every comment is about how brutally painful it was to watch. Still, I really tried to watch it anyhow, but my God, the pain... So, as much as I love and admire JC, I'm going to have to pass on watching the rest... Get a better interviewer apparently because this guy is awful. Such a shame, waste of the mans time and ours.

Also please acknowledge the fact that this has mostly thumbs up because people automatically gave it that because it's a JC interview...

This dude had no fun. John is so relaxed and laid back but the interviewer seemed so work focussed and stressful

if that thing about paying for a walk of fame star is true, who;d be up for a Kickstarter to get one?

Instead of coming into the interview with a passion and love for film, the interviewer shows up with a smugness and unfounded intelligent attitude with incredibly trite questions. As many interviews John Carpenter has given over the years, I'm sure he was annoyed by the whole interview. I think this is a problem with film "know-it-alls" who have studied film in school and assume they're so clever. Just come in with a passion and talk about your favorite scenes in his films ask him real questions you want to know!

This interview was seriously laugable. I love John and felt so bad he must have asnwered every one of these questions millions of times already. Not one question about In the Mouth of Madness and what he thinks of lovecraft

John must not have had his jello that morning. Must’ve been jonesing for his hard candies.
