Disney has finally confirmed John Carter 2: Gods of Mars is in active development. The much-anticipated sequel to John Carter (2012) will bring fans back to the spectacular world of Barsoom (Mars), with Taylor Kitsch returning as the legendary hero, John Carter. Disney has promised that the new film will push visual boundaries and stay faithful to Edgar Rice Burroughs' second novel in the Barsoom series, The Gods of Mars, while introducing fresh elements that appeal to a modern audience.
The story picks up with John Carter trapped on Earth, desperate to return to Barsoom and reunite with Dejah Thoris (played again by Lynn Collins), the love he left behind. Why would Disney ever consider a sequel? The first was one of the greatest financial failures in cinema History. I suggest you partition for LionsGate to buy the rights to it, and let them try a low budget sequel.
