WOW! what amazing musicianship, love, and spirit from all 4 of them. Trane is singing and riding the magic carpet ride of McCoy, Garrsion, and Elvin. I Want To Talk About You on this recording is a extremely healing track that has done wonders for my life. This group is LOVE and the ESSENCE of SPIRTUAL and HEALING MUSIC

Unbelievable! I only knew the very first 8 minutes from "Creation" (aka Untitled Original) from that obscure bootleg "John Coltrane - Reflections" on Chiaroscuro Records (1982) but they unfortunately did cut the tune. I finally get to hear the whole tune after more than 35 years later! Many, many Thanx!

I heard Trane a number of times at Half Note and maybe this night. The band played on top of the bar where a stage was erected. I remember one night, I was at the bar and Trane is going at it, the owners were shouting at their buddies at the bar cause Trane and Elvin were so loud. Years later I came across similar scene at Punk Rock gigs. Trane was and always will be Ahead Of His Time!

Great Coltrane set although Jimmy Garrison's bass is under recorded. Terrific to hear the voice of Alan Grant who has always been at the forefront of presenting live jazz and radio broadcasts. While he was a DJ at a local Queens NY FM station in the early '60s he hosted Sunday Youth Matinees at the original Birdland, which I had the good fortune to play several times. Later on he moved to Las Vegas where he hosted the Monday Night at the 4 Queens live NPR broadcasts for over 15 years. It was happening! Alan moved to New Zealand where his wife was from after becoming a semi-pro poker player. He told me about the hundreds of unreleased professional tape recordings he owned, but I don't think any where released. NPR should consider releasing or posting some of these broadcasts. Among the many shows I saw at the 4 Queens that were most impressive was Chet Baker, Bobby Hutcherson and many other mostly LA based cats. He passed away in October 2012 after an amazing 93 years on Earth per Google. stevetintweiss

First "theme" is boring as hell, some of the sounds coming out of the saxophone are so ugly as to bring to mind pig being slaughtered. As great as Trane was, he seems to have lost track of what good swinging jazz is, IMO.
