So is double pressing always better or is there a time when a blender would rather not double press?

Double pressing isn't necessarily better or worse, it just produces different results. In this case, it deepened the Virginias' flavor and made it less sharp, but there are times people will prefer the lighter, brighter flavor. We just look at it as another tool we can use to change the flavor of tobaccos. - Russ
