That plug made my mouth water 😂 that must be satisfying to smoke something you made!

I've just tried my own flake tobacco. I made it like yours with différent kinds of virginias. I have the impression of smoking the Samuel Gawith full Virginia. I'm so happy. Thanks a lot. Greetings from France 😎

A very interesting process, the results look amazing. I am intrigued by the process of making a plug. I've stoved Virginia blends in the oven and enjoyed the results. Thanks for sharing. Serene smokes, Gary

That looks amazing. I would just a bit of Dark Fired Kentucky and it seems like it would be kinda like Jack Knife Plug which is a favorite of mine. Wonderful looking stuff.

Just found your channel and seeing your results has me the most excited I have been in a while. Want to build a press and order some leaf NOW. Thank you for sharing. Would love to know more about what you spray them with, mixtures and amounts.

Glad to hear it! I’ve tried many methods. In general, I find what works best for me is this. Get some miniature pump spray bottles (hair spray style pump) and put your various casings inside. If your casing clogs the sprayer, it’s too thick, anyway. Dilute with distilled water. You can always do more passes. For Virginias, I have a sprayer with enriched rice vinegar and another with Aji-Mirin (very sweet). I use them at about 2 parts vinegar to 1 part Mirin. Sounds odd, but the flavor tastes great to me. I spread my blend out about 1/2 thick and coat the whole thing in s very light mist. Again, you can always add more later. For burleys, I reduce things like brown sugar, molasses, or maple syrup in hot water.

That looks awesome! Where in SW are ya? I'm in So. Colorado, and grew my first crop last year 4 varieties, around 120 plants total, the weather last year was rough early spring, 5 hail storms all 2 weeks apart from may 1st when I planted. I still ultimately ended up with around twelve 5 gallon buckets of whole leaf after loosing a lot in learning when to harvest and best ways to cure without drying green (which was a rather laborious and expensive process in a climate with 20-40% humidity and because of hail setback pushing harvest basically all the way to first frost which meant lots of electricity on supplemental heat)

Nice! Saw your design on FTT. I made one today out of scrap cedar. Love the looks of your flake. That's what im going for! Or something i can carry and slice as i need. Do you press initially in the foil? Would love to see a vid of you loading it up!
@briarbrethren2 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear it! I press without foil overnight, then wrap in foil to continue pressing. Then, I take out of the foil and put it in a jar. I just posted a longer video that shows more.

What variety of tobacco did you press?
@briarbrethren2 жыл бұрын
60% Red Virginia, 30% Bright Virginia, 10% Perique. A very light misting of vinegar/lemon went on the Virginia leaves before pressing. Nothing else. The finished result is very sweet and smooth. Similar to Samuel Gawith Brown Sugar Flake.

@@briarbrethrenThankyou for all your effort here, I live in Canada where our tobacco is outrageously expensive and this looks like the a great 'sweat equity' way to affordable tobacco.

Don’t think that would work for a dense plug of tobacco.
