Excellent video and great commentary! I just ordered the 1025R with the 54" and this video reassures that I made a good investment ! LET IT SNOW!

I just picked up a 2022 1025r with loader, 47” snow blower and heated cab. I am looking forward to it. At first, I was worried that it came with 47 inch versus 54 inch but after watching your video, I think I should be fine.

Nice unit. I opted for a 54 inch rear mount which is a fair bit more robust. The front mount is nice...no neck strain! LOL! But we get a quite a lot of snow so I have the loader on too. Wet snow is easier to deal with with that. Also the front mount is almost twice the cost here in Nova Scotia.

+sgtcrab1 I too opted for the rear mount 54... have yet to get a chance to try it.

I noticed it leaves a lot of spillage on the sides. I understand your decision to turn off the blower near the house, perhaps just reduce the rpms and point chute in towards a pile. Do understand that the blowers are not designed to be used as plows, particularly in heavier snow, frozen windrows, and/or where large debris may be present... it will damage the auger. Many manufactures state this. Soft powder, of course, lets one get away with a lot. Have fun with the machine! :D

get that chute up a bit more, they throw the snow farther. Front blowers are convenient, yet rear blowers have greater distance of 35 to 50 ft. (2520 w 54 in rear blower)

Raise the chute! Throw it further! Looked windy though.

I hope your getting at least $50 for a driveway this size. In 2014-2015 Winter we received 80+ inches of snow in Conn. Our friend runs a X748 with the 47 inch BUT no cab. Cost was about $7k for the tractor & maybe another $4K for the blower. He runs the whole neighborhood with 4 streets parallel. Approx 200 homes in a 1.25 mile radius. He plows for 4-5 hrs gets $35-$70 per driveway. Carl in Conn.

I can try when we go to take it off maybe, they actually hook up okay four hydro hoses, one longer drive shaft and the controls are one large joystick I guess. I have not really hooked up any other competition but this one hooks up in hour or so I would guess, thanks for the comment.

We just bought a 1025R with the 54" 2-stage snow blower. I noticed your tractor moves right along without much hesitation, even in some pretty deep snow. I have the same turf tires as yours, and also bought the rear tire chains. I didn't look like you were using the chains in your video. Have you needed to use them, how did they work?
@RMSpeltzFarm11 жыл бұрын
We have the chains yes but they have not been needed, we have some hill grades but if you take your time with the machine in four wheel drive and let the machine blow the snow we have not needed them, thanks for the comment.
@RMSpeltzFarm12 жыл бұрын
Plows work great, but sometimes when you get feet of snow there are edges and small areas that its nice to not have to shovel out and smaller blowers work great in those situations, thanks for the comments

My dad's LX277 easily handles 15 inch snow and I must say it's so easy and fast when I need to plow my driveway. It's never failed on us and it's about 12 years old. The chains are a pain in the ass tho. :/

Hi ReefDVMs. I like your videos. They helped me decide on buying a 1025r, and I'm waiting on delivery of it. I'm wondering if you got a block/coolant heater for yours, or if it's required on those cold winter days to start it?
@RMSpeltzFarm10 жыл бұрын
Our has feature that I believe most have that if you push in on the key before you start it for one minute it heats the glow plugs/hot box and since ours is stored in a barn this works 90% of the time. Yes we have a block heater that we use one hour before we start it only on sub zeros days, hope this helps

why do you have a big tractor and this little one with a snowblower?
@SimuliumRex11 жыл бұрын
Nice video. A couple of questions: Do you find that in any wind you are covered with blow back from the blower? Why did you opt for the blower over the FEL or blade for snoe removal in general?
@RMSpeltzFarm11 жыл бұрын
There is not really back blow but the wind does blow at certain direction the light snow back at you. Also I had a blade on it, the snow gets deep in minnesota and the blade is only 18inches high and when the banks get higher then that the blade has a hard time throwing over it
@SimuliumRex11 жыл бұрын
ReefDVMs Thanks. How does the blower work with wet snow?
@RMSpeltzFarm11 жыл бұрын
Really good, but it will not throw it as far if the snow is heavy and you have to drive a little slower through it at first.
@RMSpeltzFarm12 жыл бұрын
Push the joystick forward until it clicks in then the blower will float as you plow or blow the driveway
@jeffschlagel563211 жыл бұрын
Keep say plowing. Its a snowblower and using it to "plow" snow with will damage the auger.
@EddieSchirmer11 жыл бұрын
ok so.. when i try to back up which mine or lift the blower the tractor stalls. it is low, should it be in high gear, and also have you used yours is Seriously wet snow? any tips would be greatly appreciated (I'm quite new at using the blower as this is my first winter with it)
@EddieSchirmer11 жыл бұрын
key board is acting up… going to shorten my question to… "what settings do you operate at and any tips beyond that would be awesome, thank you…"
@RMSpeltzFarm11 жыл бұрын
In some areas of the world John Deere makes the 1026 with yellow PTO engagement switch, this switch needs to be on to get your blower to run and when you backup with the blower running you need to lift up on the switch before you back up and hold it up while backing up. its safety deal. It can be shorted out but no dealer will do it for you, due to legalities. I blow in low normally with trottle full open
@EddieSchirmer11 жыл бұрын
ReefDVMs thanks for that info, helps me a great deal. learn something new every day

Sorry to burst your bubble but that is pretty sad throwing distance. I have identical 47" on a 455 and I am disappointed in it's performance. That snow you were pushing/blowing should have been thrown half way to the moon but rather it barely moved over a couple of feet. Don't try saying the snow was heavy, or you weren't at full throttle. Those JD blowers are over priced and they under perform. The only blower from JD I would even consider is the Frontier front mount SB1154. Night and day difference in build quality and performance. I will never own another "JD" branded blower when I buy my next blower. Love the tractor though. If it is as good as my 2001 455 you will have a very reliable unit.

Typical 47" blower. You may think it blows snow but really it doesn't as compared to others. I have the same unit, will be getting the new Frontier (RadTech) front blower for better performance. Have to move snow twice when blowing driveway, other than that fine.

Typical 47" JD blower, it doesn't blow that far. Neighbour's Bx 2370 out blows my 47" very easily. My 455 is no slouch but the blower could do better. My 46" single stage blows almost as far. That is my opinion. Like the 1025r though.
